Side notes:

"Elloitt put on a show of speed twice, as both times he was picked off first, and both times he beat the throw to second."

Shows good ability to read a pitcher as well!!! haha

Forgot Ricky Hartkins and Arin Busch....pretty good on the hill as well.

They're also picking up a Bourbon Co. pitcher who signed with Thomas More, and a college kid thats still in the age range to play. The Kings that is.

You know the last high school player that I saw do what Elliott did Sunday, was a kid by the name of Ben Revere of LexCath against PRP in the LIT. Seems Revere is going to be playing some baseball even above the college level soon, as he was chossen as the 28th pick overall in the MLB draft. Sometimes, the kids with speed can read a pitcher rather well, and when the pitcher starts that move toard first, they take off to second..... My guess is Revere, and Elliott are in the group that can read a pitcher rather well..... :D :thumb:

Yeah I see where your coming from, if you have the blazing speed then worrying about getting picked off isnt too important...

DD, Harkins hasnt looked too good so far this season. Today against the RBI affiliate of Covington (the team the reds sponsor for inner city kids) he looked sub-par. He had a hard time finding the strike zone, and got hit around pretty good.

I know he was in a car wreck just before the HS season started and he didn't throw much for Conner...I would guess his apprerances would be limited to a few innings at a time for rehab purposes.

The Kentucky Colonels played the Dayton Cardinals at St. Henry Tuesday night and won by a score of 9-3. Nutini started and went 6 innings to pick up the win, and Bleser closed out the seventh with 3 K's. Nutini threw 89 pitches, walked 1, hit one batter, struck out 5, gave up 4 hits, and gave up 3 runs, of which only 1 was earned. Bleser threw 14 pitches walked 1 and as I said sturck out 3...

Hitting for the Colonels today were:

Kuebbing 2-4, 2 runs scored, and reached on an error

Reed 2-4, reached on an error, and 2 rbi's

Bleser 0-2, SF, and 1 rbi

Hoskins 1-1, double

Krohman 1-2, double, and 1 run scored

Gilcrest 0-2, reached on an error, base on ball, and scored 1 run

N. Ryan 0-2, base on ball, was on due to FC, and scored 2 runs

Adams 2-3, 1 run scored, double, and 1 rbi

Parrott 2-3, 1 run scored, double, and four rbi's

Darner 1-3, 1 run scored.

Side notes: Nutini threw an outstanding game tonight. In the first three innings, he only threw a total of 30 pitches and had the Dayton Cardinals totally baffled.

Ricky Parrott, had a huge night at the plate going 2-3 with four huge rbi's.

The left fielder for the Dayton Cardinals had an outstanding game tonight making and catching ball after ball. Outstanding game young man....

The Colonels are now 8-3-1 for the season....

Nice to see Parrott getting back on track at the plate. He mentioned to me that he's been struggling in previous games, but it seems as if he's showing signs of breaking out. By the way, oldguy, has Parrott found a school to play for next year?

Have to agree SirMix--Hated to see Ricky miss most of his senior year due to injury!! Hopefully he'll catch on with a nice college and get to continue his career!!

Don't know, but I will ask him tonight, if I get off work early enough to attend tonight's game....

The Kentucky Colonles played the Lexington Baseball Club at St. Henry today and won by a score of 10-5. This was the second game of the day for the Lexington Baseball Club who tied the Kentucky Kings in an eight inning game prior to the Colonels game.

Clint Hoskins went four strong innings to get the win today. Hoskins threw 61 pitches, gave up 2 walks, a HBP, 2 strike outs, 4 hits, and three runs, with only 1 of the runs being earned for the Colonles. Craig Shanks went the rest of the way throwing 39 pitches, 2 walks, 4 hits, and two runs, all earned.

Hitting today for the Colonels were;

Kuebbing 1-4, on base via a FC, and 2 runs scored

Elliott 1-3, 1 walk, 2 rbi's and 2 runs scored

Maile 2-3 HR (345) 2 runs scored, 3 rbi's

Shanks 0-1, 1 walk, and 1 run scored

Krohman 1-1, 1 walk, and 2 rbi's

Reed 0-0, 1 walk, 1 run scored

Nichols 0-1, 1 walk

Isler 0-0, 1 walk, 1 run scored

Parrott 1-2, 1 walk, 1 run scored, 1 rbi

Side notes, Seems Rick Parrott has yet to sign with anyone. Really a shame that such an outstanding kid who, really understand the game, and who more importantly can play at the next level, hasn't signed with someone yet. College coaches you are really missing out on a outstanding young player, that will make any team better...

Maile's HR was hit extremely high and deep. There was never any question of it being a HR the minute he hit it, other than would it stay fair. Maile hit the HR with two men on and broke open a game which at that point the Colonels were leading by only two.

The Colonels open play in there own Tournament starting Thursday at 10am playing the Ky. Bearcats. The Colonles are bringing in some top notch ball club's, and so it should be a great tourney at St. Henry starting Thursday and ending on Sunday, so come on out and watch some exciting baseball........

I'm pretty sure it was Ryan that pitched and not Shanks. Shanks played short most of the game and then Holocher(sp)took over for him in the last inning....

The Colonel Tourney is a blast to witness, with very top notch talent coming from all over. It is extremely draining on the Colonel players though. Best of luck with the tourney, I am sure there will be something to Coach "Mo" Morris in memory of him, and I cannot wait to see it.
