How many 16th region kids get a basketball scholarships? Have not been many D-1 players.

Any scholarship is a good one and is worthy. A college education, getting to play the game that you love at the next level whether it be D1, DIII, NAIA or any other division to me is irrelavent and all are something to be proud of.

I agree any scholarship is a good one.

Usually players in our area do not get full scholarships. I was getting at not many D-1 scholarships. They get help/aid from school with some of the cost when they go to d2, d3, naia schools. Believe me there is nothing wrong with getting help for college and getting to play sports too. The education is the most important thing!!!

That was the point that I was making. Kids in this area do not get seen in the right places to get in on the scholarships. They also do not get out and get the competition that the summer games and camps provide. Look at the Faulkner twins and what it has done for them.

Nothing to do about being in right places. Talent level and ability is what matters. If you can play the colleges will find you. Not knocking players in our area but we do not have many big time college athletes in any sport. We do have some exceptions. We mainly have D2, D3, NAIA types kids and there is nothing wrong with this. They can still get help for college and get to play at the next level. Most of all get that education.

Football is constantly going through trends. The spread is the current one. When I played (mid 90's), every body ran the pro formation (1 TE, 2 RBs, 2 WR's). The wishbone, wing-t, pro, spread, will always be somewhere. Eventually a new offense (or fad would be a better term) will come along and this great innovation that we call the spread today will be outdated. Football is not a revolutionary, it's evolutionary. There is no magical offense or defense. Coaches simply line up in something that they beleive fits their players and constantly find better ways to do things to win.

X's and O's do not win.........Players do!

Raceland has new strengths and weaknesses. The coaches will use them to best advantage. I for one can't wait to watch.

:thumb: :thumb: Great post!! You still have to play 11 on each side, block, tackle, run and pass. You are correct in that players win the games...............It's not about the X's and O's - It's about the Jimmy's and Joe's. ;)

DId Raceland graduate most of their line?

Last years line, I was impressed. I thought they were tough.

We graduated three of them, two are back, and there are some good underclassmen that need some experience. Racelands Line will have some decent size this year.

I think I remember a certain coach that used that a few times.:;)
