What do the Lexington 6A schools need to do...

Featured Replies

Open enrollment is clearly not the answer. Coaching at all public levels in Fayette Co. need to improve. The peewee level is full of stud oriented coaches and the middle schools are too. May the best stud win! Then the high schools have stubborn coaches who act as if they win state every year and don't do anything different, so they're easily scoutable. The "it worked then, it should work now" coaches.

It pains me to say this but, perhaps Lexington is a one sport city, BASKETBALL. Is'nt that what they say about UK football?

Try doubling that, or at least adding two to it. Lifting 3 days a week isn't going to cut it.

Well come down here and see if you can out bench Hensley and we will see if the work out plan is bad

Power lifting may be one sport that Trinity has had better results in recently then football. They just won ANOTHER national title and junior to be Jordan Whiting (a linebacker) set a national teenage record. You really don't want to get into a "who has a better weight liting program" argument here, trust me.

Hensley's the head coach right?

I've never heard of a succesful football team only lifting 3 time a week. Maybe Dunbar will be the exception, but so far they are the example.

Why would anyone challenge a poster to a Bench Lifting duel with Head Coach Hensley to determine if the weigh lifting program is good or bad? Isn't it the Kids that should be competing? Am I missing something?:p

My point being I would trust someone who has benched over 400 lbs. in his life with a weightliting program over people who just spout off saying his program stinks with no knowledge of what they do.

The "old school" weightlifting premise was to tear down the muscles one day and to allow one day of rest afterwards. The most popular methodology now seems to be to break down the workout between upper body and lower body on alternating days. In this manner, you work out at least six (6) days a week, and still rest the fatigued body part every other day.

Why do you keep inviting people down to see Hensley? Is he superior to everyone? You might invite the wrong person to his office one day so be careful. Besides, he's in pretty good shape, but how did that help last year's 2-8 season? I sure hope you're right about his personal workout and I really hope it produces something good on the friday nights.

The truth of the matter is , St X and Trinity are in a league of there own, if nothing else, by numbers alone. In addition, if a kid is a great athlete and wants to go to X or T and have the capacity to do so, then they do.. The Lex schools, like all the others, are restricted to geographic neighborhoods to get kids from... Trinity and X are great programs and I'm not taking anything away from them, but, when you have 5-600 more kids to choose from than most other 6a schools and have no geographic boundaries and a school that offers good academics and recruits itself, there's always going to be an advantage that will not be made up very often..

I would wonder what kind of program T and X would be considered if they had to play against the big schools in Ohio, on a yearly basis. My guess is that they would be mediocre to good, but not great, when compared to schools of equal size and advantages...

Lets be honost trinity and x are not rolling out ultra talented kids every year. How many division 1 players have they produced during the past two seasons? Henry Clay has had more pure talent than either the past two years, and will probably have more this upcoming year. The two l'ville schools are sound in every aspect of the game and that is why they win.

The Big 3 are more discipline than the Lexington schools and their coaches don't have super large egos.
