May 25, 200719 yr Thanks again, All! They removed several bone spurs, and recontured the hip. His condition was called impingement (there's more but that's the only English word. ). In the groin area, he had a HUGE bone spur that basically prevented him from any range of motion side-to-side with his leg. On the outer part of the femur, a less huge, but inconveniently placed bone spur on the head of the femur prevented the range of motion up and down. With the removal of the spurs and the reconturing of the bone, they feel they've extended the time he has before he has to have the hip replaced. They also feel that there won't be as agressive progression of arthritis. He won't be able to walk for a month, or run for two. But, as soon as he feels up to it, he can get out and about and drive and do anything he normally would, except put wait on the leg. He's a little upset....he'd planned to learn tennis over the summer. I tried to placate him by pointing out that at least now he could put his own shoes on!

May 25, 200719 yr Sounds like he did very well with the surgery, that's great news. :thumb: Tell him to milk this for all it's worth with the chicks, this could be a MUCH better summer than he thinks. Beats learning tennis.
