Thank you all for your prayers. My son is improving every day, but still has a way to go. He will be in a wheelchair for the next 4-6 weeks, but his pain is getting less everyday. We were in UK children's hospital for 1 week for his surgery to his femurs, and as RebelK said he had plastic surgery Wednesday to skin graft an open wound to his lower right leg. Most of the long term concerns are to his left ankle/foot. The ligamnets and tendons to his foot were severly damaged and the doctors are not sure if these will heal with time.

We were very fortunate that is was not worse and that there were no head or internal injuries. The accident was my son's fault totally. Riding his dirt bike on a back country road very fast, came around a curve on the wrong side of the road and hit a car head on. Just please any of you who have kids riding ATV's etc... keep the helmets on them.

If any of you Louisvillians know a little nurse at UK childrens hospital named Heather that works in 4E pediatrics, give her a hug from the Tater. She is truly an ANGEL!!!![/quote]

For every bad nurse there are a dozen nice ones that truly do a wonderful job!!! So glad to hear that "tater-tot" is doing well. The wonderful thing about children is that they take everything bad and make it something fun. Good luck with the recovery and know that all of us will be willing to help you in any way we can.

Do you know her last name by any chance?

My thoughts and Prayers go out to tatersalad, his son, & family.

Do you know her last name by any chance?

Boondock, her name is Heather White!!! She is getting married in a few months. I hope you know her. We as a family LOVE her. TaterTot thinks she is his Guardian Angel. What a wonderful person. If you know her tell her how much she meant to us.:thumb: :thumb:

I don't believe that she is the Heather I know there unless White is the last name she's going to take. I'm glad to hear though that your family was blessed with someone as caring as her to deal with your situation, we all know some aren't always that lucky. I'm also glad to hear that he will be fine in the long run as well, I've had a few 4-wheeler tumbles in may day and they can be quite dangerous no matter how careful you are.

Tater, I (a couple of motnths ago) had a couple of nurse's like this at Ashalnd, Ky.'s KDMC hospital. I was not in the shape that your son was but I am very thankful for them as well. I had totally lost all body functions (movement, Balance, any strengh at all ) during my M.S. episode/scare a couple of months ago. A poster had said earlier that their are some very good nurse as well as bad ones. I am thankful that "tater tot" had this person. Imo they are not there by accidient, I truly believe they are placed in a situation for a reason and from above. :thumb:

May God bless your son in his fight back from the injuries suffered in this accident.

Andrew (TaterTot) is outside in his wheelchair enjoying the weather with his friends today. His is feeling very well considering his injuries.

Thank you all for your wishes.

Rebelk, I think when I get back to work I want to buy you a sandwich of your choice at Melton's some day.
