May 13, 200719 yr Had 26 in 130 games last year,at the top this year. This after 2 years of steroid talk. This guy is a hall of famer, period. He hit the ball for average and power at 180 pounds and still at 43(without steroids). He's still doing something....he's a cheater....I will never respect him, he's a self centered loser.
May 13, 200719 yr He's still doing something....he's a cheater....I will never respect him, he's a self centered loser. This is a little scary, but I could not possibly agree with you more.
May 13, 200719 yr Also don't know too many people that say he's a great guy and an ambassador of the game... And for that I don't want him to break the record... :thumb: :thumb: I couldn't agree more.
May 13, 200719 yr He's still doing something....he's a cheater....I will never respect him, he's a self centered loser. What's he doing? Is there any evidence or proof that he's on something?
May 14, 200719 yr ^ For me, personally, I don't need the proof that you are requesting...I have been around weights, weightlifting, steroids, etc...I know that he's used them.
May 14, 200719 yr ^and he admitted to taking them "unknowingly"! But I do not beleive he "unknowingly" took anything.
May 14, 200719 yr Having spent many hours in a gym I can tell when someone is juicing and one great sign is when their head grows to look like a pumpkin. Barry's hat size probably doubled since coming to San Francisco. He was a better player before he started cheating; could run much better and the extra bulk has made it harder on his knees too.
May 14, 200719 yr UKmustang if you are talking just pure hitters and not just power hitting alone I would add Pete Rose, Rod Carew, Roberto Clemente, Willie Mays, Paul Molitor, Tony Gwynn, Kirby Puckett, Nomar Garciaparra, Derek Jeter, Joe Dimmagio, Lou Gehrig and probably some others I am not thinking of along with your mention of Ted Williams, T. Cobb, S. Musial, and Babe Ruth all or most possibly ahead of Bonds. These are just some that I thought of off the top of my head. Is it me, or is Hank Aaron the most overlooked player ever? He should be at or near the top of any All-time hitters list.
May 14, 200719 yr Hank was VERY consistent, which is how he hit his 755. His individual season numbers are not OVERLY impressive however and his career BA is only .305. He does have over 3700 hits though. Is he overlooked as a great hitter? Yes. Is he top 5 all time? No.
May 14, 200719 yr Author Does steroids give you a great batting eye? The ability and discipline to swing at only strikes, taking walks, etc. People also get bigger in the head and other places just for the plain fact of getting older, look at Clemens and Griffey(they've never been accused of using steroids).

You're right. That is why he is considered one of the best hitters ever. STILL doesn't mean he didn't take steroids (also doesn't mean that he did take them). But it's all impressive nonetheless.
