Frankfort High School

Featured Replies

I have no argument here. My only point here is that GSS is not a natural feeder to any one school in particular. When I refered to "Frankfort Schools" I mean the three High schools in Franklin County. I agree that GSS students are divided proportionately among those schools, and those schools are glad to get GSS students as they are typically strong academically.

IMO the new KHSAA feeder proposal is a bad idea, and GSS is just one example of where it will be a problem to enforce.

I don't disagree a bit. I am disappointed that I was no longer an AD when the vote was taken, not that I could have changed anything.

My feelings are that it is the Kentucky HIGH SCHOOL Athletic Association and as a result should not be allowed to govern middle schools. It should be allowed to limit contact by the high schools of middle school students not in feeder systems, but that limit is on the HIGH SCHOOL end. It should NOT govern middle school students, including the "promotion from 8th grade". IMHO a student is NOT under the auspices of the KHSAA until they are enrolled in a high school or until the have PARTICIPATED on a high school team.

I agree.

Who cares about feeder schools, when the topic is who's the next coach! Byars was one of the best coaches you could get at FHS. I heard from a very reliable source that everyone was pink slipped, except the football coach. I mean he got it, but wasn't going to be let go. He will be the next athletic director. Byars did a fantastic job last year! He made it to the region with almost nothing. He could have easily won the game, but his best player was hurt. HE BEAT THE HORSE FRANKLIN COUNTY! Sad thing is that Champ is getting all this press and the same thing happen to Juan and nobody cares. I think that Juan deserved better than what he got after posting a great season. Its not about what you do during the season, but what you do in the post season. He won about 10 games, BUT nobody cares he made it to the region. Meaning that he had a chance to go to state. OF COURSE, he played eventual state champs, but it was tournament time and you never know what could have happen at that particular time. Just goes to show this coaching game has gone political, coaches have NO security what so ever. when they are tired of you or someone thinks you're not a good fit. You're done! The principal before the new one that came from Wilkinson Street may be the blame for this one. Should have kept Juan Byars, this program will continue to suffer, because of foolish acts of people in frankfort. Byars was making a true sacrifice by traveling from paris to frankfort everyday and also starting to teach at the school then at the last minute be told they don't have a teaching gig for your. WOW! Best of luck to Coach Byars he will be okay. God always takes care of his children.

Hey Coach, I think it was pointed out that Byars did a great job. I don't think it has been made public as to why he was let go. It can't be because of his performance.

But Coach you know that public schools can basically be a dictatorship with the principal being the dictator. The principal has final say with every hiring decision.

I wonder how many kids go to FHS tuition free from out of district?

None - If you live out of district, you must apply to get in and the process is well scrutinized by the teaching staff. Once you get in, you have to pay the tuition. Even if you are a senior and in your last semester, they will send you "home" if you don't pay the tuition. It is a pretty solid policy.

Coach Byers did a good job for Frankfort last year, but he was let go for good reason.

I thought Frankfort won only 10 games.

What was the good reason? He had them in the regional tournament...
