June 29, 200719 yr Author What would really be nice is if we got enough upstream to warrant some turbines churning some water through the dam. If that's the case, Sat. afternoon, ole Spindoc and Spindoc Jr. will be chucking redfins into the turbulent water below the dam, ready to hang on!

July 4, 200719 yr Just completed our fishing trip report on our annual 30 day fishing trip to the Spanish River, in Northern Ontario. 2007 Blue Heron Fishing Trip Report
July 16, 200719 yr My nephew fished Cave Run (Yokum & Blackwater) this past week-end and had a great trip. He caught six musky but none were keepers. A 3 1/2 lb and a 5 lb largemouth and several in the 14-17 inch range and brought home enough crappie for a good fish fry.
July 16, 200719 yr ^^ That is great to hear cville, sounds like he had a great trip and that he had a certain "Guide" along with him as well. From the location you said the fish were caught he was fishing "his spots". :thumb:

It was his first trip without my dad with him. After a long Prayer in a quiet cove, he said the fish really started to hit and he knew that his guide was with him. God's work is never done as he has a hand in all that we do.

This is one of the first success stories I have ever heard from Cave Run, well besides people catching Musky. I fished down there during my 4 year stint at MSU and I very rarely had any luck catching a good "keeper" bass. I have caught several catfish though!

I fished down there during my 4 year stint at MSU and I very rarely had any luck catching a good "keeper" bass. I have caught several catfish though! We have fished there for many years and have had days like the one you mentioned but most of the time we always catch a few. Yokum Creek seems to always produce for us and gets less pressure than the main lake. The only problem I have with Cave Run is the thieves that roam the boat ramp parking lots.:fight:

Theives and the Timber Rattlers I have no use for.

July 17, 200719 yr Things are still not great but are picking back up on the river. Friday produced 5 keepers in 4 hours in the afternoon between 3:30 and 7:30, all shallow around wood. Saturday had 4 fish, 3 keepers with several short stikes on topwater, buzzbaits. Fish just weren't as aggressive on them as usual.
July 30, 200719 yr The Greenup Pool on the Ohio River is producing well. Saturday produced 9 keeper bass all on shallow flats with crankbaits.
July 31, 200719 yr Just in case anyone is going out to Wyoming, Mrs. Hearsay caught a couple of nice cutthroat trout and a bunch of whities using both wet and dry flies out on the Snake River. Been very, very dry out there this year, but has been raining nonstop the last week. Reports on the Firehole, Yellowstone, and Madison Rivers have all been mediocre.
August 10, 200719 yr I just recieved word tonight that the white bass were in the "jumps" on Cave Run. Most action is in the evenings, the schooling Whites are pushing/chasing the shad to the surface and the action is wide open!
