I was at Grayson Lake Tuesday. Lake was real clear and at summer pool. I fished the tailwaters with minnows and had good luck on crappie.

Fished the Ohio river this Saturday, water was muddy at the Big Sandy inlet. Caught 6-7 hybrids in the 2-4 lbs range all in one spot on a chartreuse spinnerbait. It won't be very long and below the Greenup dam will be lights out on hybrids and white bass. Can't wait!

The Ohio River (Greenup Pool) has slowed down a great deal from what it was last week. They have pulled a lot of water at the locks and it has lowered the water level 2-3 ft.. Last week it was around a foot higher than normal in the backwaters and creeks and today was around 2-3ft. lower than normal.. Only One bass was caught. Hopefully this will become more stable within a few days to a week. When they pull water like that down at the dam it messes the river fishing up for a while.

Update on the Greenup Pool of the Ohio River is that some fish are now being caught on the main river using small shad colored crankbaits. As always is the case some fish can always be caught on a buzzbait and/or spinnerbait. The backwaters and creeks always have some resident fish that can be caught as well. Main report was that they are starting to catch em' on the main river now.

Same story as before on the Ohio River..........fish can be caught on the main river on cranks, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. The creeks and backwaters, sloughs always have some fish in them and a plastic worm, tubes, Jigs and spinnerbaits are always good bets there as well.

My BGP name should have been "River Rat" - LOL

Stunk, fishingwise. they had had alot of rain unlike us, the lake had been very high and they were pulling the level back to summer pool, fish were turned off, not even the guides were catching any fish. Oh, well, mother nature wins again. Had a great time though, beautiful lake!

Everytime I got frustrated, I kept telling myself, "You're not at work, you're not at work"

:thumb: Quality time spent with your son made the trip a success. It also teaches him that there will be many days where things do not go as planned and that can be a great learnig tool.

As has been stated many times, "A bad day fishing, is better than a good day at work".

The Ohio River (Greenup Pool) is pretty slow this week. They for some reason are holding wataer down at the dam at Greenup (maybe due to the drought conditions?). Holding water = no current = tough fishing. Only 2 keepers caught after a days fishing, this is very unusual in normal conditions. The current on the river helps position the bass so they will be predictable where they will be.
