Nice of Nascar to give Gordon the win. Reutimann blows a motor and goes half a lap. Gordon passes McMurray and then they throw the caution flag. I think Tony Stewart was right when he said NASCAR is becoming like wrestling in that throwing the flags when they want assures them the outcome they want. If Reutimann blew a motor, either throw the flag when he starts smoking or don't throw one at all. Just about every blown motor results in oil on the track. It's not like it hasn't happened before.

Fletch, I am starting to agree with you. It seems as though NASCAR's decisions as of late have been circumstantial.

I know that you were not replying to me, but I will response. I have long been a defender of NASCAR, but I find it hard to find some consistancy in some of their most recent calls. I do not think that it is a conspiracy (I don't think that "NASCAR" necessarily wanted Gordon to win Sunday's race, but it is hard to follow some of the judgement calls that have been made. Why wait so late to throw the caution?

How many races has the Hendrick stable won this season? It's not NASCAR anymore, it's HASCAR. After yesterday's race and the things that happened, this good ol' boy won't watch another race.

And yet the video showed why Gordon was placed in first last week coming out of the pit and even Stewart did not have a problem with it.

I have no problem with Gordon winning any race. My issue is inconsistacy in when the caution flags are thrown. When do you throw the caution flag when an engine is blowing up? This time, it was well after the fact. Either throw it immediately or don't throw it at all. NASCAR is setting themselves up for scrutiny this way.

When Reutiman's engine blew (aside from the wailing and crying that Michael Watrip was doing on behalf of the car owned by his brother), Larry Mac said twice 'No caution yet' and then the flag was thrown later. By that time, Gordon was in the lead.

 

I have to agree about the placements of the yellow flags. I'm also unsure why the race ended under caution when there have been other races that wrecked on the first lap of a green-white-checker only to see a red flag thrown so they can finish under green.

And wasn't that video an animation of Fox's GPS tracker? Why couldn't they just show the actual footage. Give me a week and I'll make it look like Rosie won the race.

Two scenerios:

1. They didn't have the "big one" and didn't want to see it happen.

2. Jeff's in the lead. He gets his win. And everyone is happy. Except those that threw the beer cans at him.

Its just like DW said a few years ago, the descision of when and where cautions are thrown is just like ball and strike calls. Some are going to agree and some arent. If NASCAR had thrown the caution as soon as the #00 blew up. Then everyone would be saying NASCAR wanted to give the race to Mcmurray, cause theyre partial to Roush Racing or they didnt want Gordan to break Dale Srs record at essentialy his home track. Im not any happier about the one guy I didnt want to see surpass any record that Dale set than the rest of you. But, I knew it was gonna happen sonner or later.

I am as far from a gordon fan as it gets but I gotta give the man his dues for being a good driver. I just hate to see Big E passed in any category, knowing that he could still be out there racing today!
