April 28, 200719 yr I think this favors the bigger name schools. Now you are back to contacts, letters, and visits. Bigger schools have bigger budgets, hence they cna travel more and make these recruiting vists. Many of the resources available to them are not available to the mid-majors. With the texting, everyone could make contacts with kids without leaving their campus. BTW, I hear UK is looking into purchasing their own plane. Tennessee has two, Florida has one. UK's athletic budget has swollen to 60 million a year.
April 28, 200719 yr I never said that was the main reason why they want text, but that is a little reason why.... No, the main reason they want to text is because they are all control freaks and they want recruits thinking about them 24/7. They also want, by sheer volume, to make it harder for other coaches to get a foot in the door so to speak. In real life someone that obsessively texted another person like this would be called a stalker, in college athletics it's accepted and defended. IMVHO that is pathetic.
