Who is in line to get the Owen County job?

Featured Replies

My apologies. He went once, in 2001, and they lost to Fleming County 55-0. I know Owen was a tough job, but I didn't see him making a lot of progress.

As for his firing/removal, whatever, I don't know the circumstances of him losing it.

Did he do better/worse than the guy before him? Some places, it is hard to make progress.

The same could be be said about the Trimble job, and you guys are doing a fine job there and actually have a few people giving Trimble some top ten votes.

I would say if you guys can turn Trimble around the right coach could do the same for Owen.

Thanks for the compliment. I think that any place has athletes that can be turned in to excellent football players, give the right coach. My comment was more aimed toward the administration standpoint (coach's salaries, facilities, assistants, support network, etc.). Some places make it difficult to be successful at. Or perhaps, some places make it easier to be successful at. I don't know what the case is for Owen, from that standpoint.

That's what my implication was when I said it was time for Coach U to go. I'm not saying Owen County should be a state title contender annually, but they rarely seem to field competitive teams. Progress can be made (Trimble is a great example), but Owen County didn't seem to be progressing. Hopefully now they will.

So what kind of background information can anyone give on Coach Hockensmith? Past coaching experience?

So have they named a new coach yet after running everybody from last year off.

If its is Kenny Hockensmith they have hired a great guy and a solid offensive mind. Kenny has been out of coaching for a couple of years. But has had coaching stops at Frankfort and Scott co. he has a ton of knowledge of the game. He also is a players coach. he cares deeply about kids and making them more than just players. With the right amount of support Coach Hockensmith will do a fine job.

He and I worked tohether years ago. I learned a lot as far as game prep.

Received word that Coach Hockensmith is in fact the head coach. He also retains the A.D. duties as well.

Congrats and good luck!!

did we not already go through this a month or so ago
