32 reported killed in shooting at Virginia Tech

Featured Replies

I think a very interesting point that I have not heard about yet, is whether the shooter had a roommate or not. I would venture to say 95% of students living in dorms (other than RA's) are required to have a roommate. This could be a crucial source of information since the shooter seemed to be a loner, if applicable.

Yes, he had a roommate.

Here is an interview with him.

That's disturbing on so many different levels. Did you read the other one?

Both involve violence, sex, and awful language. It is obvious this kid had a lot of bottled up mental issues.....

The second one isn't as bad but still obviously out there.

I just read it. After reading them once my first thought is that they are disturbing. My second thought is that he wasn't a good writer at all...

This guy was very odd. Sad thing is, there are probably hundreds, maybe thousands like him in this country. I just hope they don't try to do the same things he did.

I thought that it was terrible writing as well, regardless of the content.

That's what I have been thinking about. What we as a society could be doing better to help realize who these truly troubled individuals are to and get them the help that they need.

I have read reports that he had posted a warning online Monday that said "I am going to kill people at VTech". Not sure how legit the report I read was, as I can not remember where I read it. I also read that he had "Ismail Ax" written on one of his arms.

I elieve that he had signed one of his notes with "Ismail Ax". If he had this on his arm, I'm not sure.

Just checked, he did have this on one of his arms, as reported by police officials.

Virginia Tech Shooting

I didn't want to say anything until this certain person stepped forward. But it turns out that my brother-in-laws cousin went to VT and roomed with the shooter last year. I guess the kid had to get his dad involved so he could switch rooms. He is going to be on CNN tonight - not sure when though.

^ It's a small world.

Small world indeed... I just saw a picture of one of my friends from when I was at Tech. He was one of the ones murdered - his name was Brian Bluhm. He was a grad student in civil engineering. He graduated with me in 2004. That makes two people that I personally know murdered, with several names still not released.

Want a bit of good news? Brian was an active member of the Baptist Student Union on campus and was a Christian. At least we know he's in a better place now...
