Why Not Britt?

I like that Moroncat has a ring to it . Hopefully we can talk at the games next year if you still support the Lady Royals.

Scooterbob, I usually enjoy the back and forth banter that posters involve themselves with on BGPs, but this has just become tiresome. I have honestly tried to explain my reasonings and what facts I have used to reach them. Obviously I have either done a poor job or expressing myself or you are just not willing to listen. Either way, this has become a futile exercise.

You tell me that coach A deserves to win based on postseason success, I tell you that I look at post season success and several other factors (ie..preseason team expectations, player talent, etc...).

You might say that I am dancing Scooter, but as they say "it takes two to tango" If so , you are one heck of a dance partner!!!!

I asked that you justify with facts why Coach A should receive the award over Coach B. Neither you nor anyone else has offered a scintilla of evidence to support that choice. In truth, there is no way that you can justify it with facts. Of course, when I presented the "puzzle" I knew that choosing Coach A could never be justified in any reasonable way.

However, I see that the continued give and take is allowing people such as Marooncat to take unnecessary shots at a young girl who deserves far better and who is certainly a better human being than are those who seek to hurt her- both on this forum and from various and sundry coaching benches. Therefore, in deference to the request of Royal Uncle, I will make no further posts in this thread. I will say, though, that the young lady involved in some of this unfortunate discussion is an individual with remarkable talents and is a great credit to Rose Hill, to her family, and to her friends of whom I can proudly state that I am one. Much of the verbage from the "other side" is merely jealousy.

If anyone wishes to take a shot at me or the offer the justification for Coach A (in truth an impossibility), please do so by use of a private message because this thread needs to be closed.

Ashlands coach took an extremely young team to a victory in the region.

Racelands coach took his team to the first district championship in school history. Rose Hills coach took her team to a district and region championship.

Russells coach took the #1 seeded team at the beginning of the year and the favorite to win the region to a loss in the district and a loss in the region. I could understand giving the award to Bradley, Trimble, or Euton, but to give it to Kidwell who led his team to underachieve and got out-coached in the district and the region both is strange.

Anyone who watched Faulkner play this year knows she deserves to be on the All District Team. I thought the awards were based on how the players actually played. Not off the court bickering. For grown adults to punish a teenage girl like this just shows that area coaches are small people who are never going to get bigger. The coaches used the same arguments last year against Kala Faulkner. But now she plays for University of Louisville and has a full paid scholarship based on public service, the McConnell, I hope there are different area coaches before my daughter is big enough to play for the Tomcats.

I also believe that Morgan County's coach Jeff Brown did an admirable job this season. His team improved to 16-10. I believe that they have many of their key players back next year (including Eagle), so they will be a team to watch.

Did anyone ever think that the kids attitude on and off the court had anything to do with the voting. From what I was told From a source(My Mom) that works at Russell is that Britt had a very bad attitude and quit the team at Russell two times(once because she didn't think she was getting enough playing time as a frosh). The kindness in Kidwells's heart he allowed her to rejoin the team. After which her and her sister quit again and then went to Rose Hill. If you don't think that attitudes play a role in award voting then you have a very obscure way at looking at it. From all I can gather Britt is an average ball player with a way above average attitude problem, that is probably what lead to the not getting on the all area team. Just a veiw point of looking in from the outside.

If off the court actions have anything to do with the voting then there are a few members of both the boys and girls teams that should be left off. Britt was a very important part of this team and when she was not on the floor Rose Hill struggled. I watched them play Lexington Catholic this season and the Lady Royals were in the game for much of the contest but when Britt got in foul trouble they lost their main ball handler and a big force on defense. There is no way that she did not merit inclusion on the all area team other than spite from the voters.

Adults usually try to refrain from attacking teenage girls. Britt Faulkner must have been about 14 years old when she was at Russell. Sounds like you and your mother need to grow up a little bit. If Laura Terry actually wore that head band, I think it's "old school" cool. In this day and age of "it's all about me sports" it's nice to see a teammate take up for a teammate.

Marooncat, I have to question what game you went to and saw a packed house on the Rose Hill side. The folks I saw at the games, and I don't miss many were fans that have supported the teams for years, including myself. I am sure the fan support will be about the same. The only possible difference is the absence of other area coaches.

I have received a pm that leads me to believe that the headband incident actually happened. However, I have far less problem with an 18 year old exercising her guaranteed First Amendment right to defend her friend/teammate than I do with coaches who, by acts of omission and acts of commission, exclude a fellow coach because they feel they are superior. Those of whom I speak know I am speaking the truth. Respect? Come on. Respect is earned not a sacred right reserved for men who coach girls.

So Coach A's 27 wins had nothing to do with the COY award? Winning an EKC Tournament and Regular Season Championship had nothing to do with it? Why vote next year! Let's just say that whoever wins the region is the automatic COY. That would settle it for everybody. And then, each player who is named to the All-Area team can buy T-Shirts and display a name of one of their teammates on it, that way we double the number of All-Area members. Or even better still, let's just say that ANYONE who played in a varsity game next year gets an automatic All-Area trophy. That way nobody's feelings are hurt and everyone is happy. Because we all know that in the real world, there are never any disappointments and everyone is a winner.

Another thread involving the 16th region that is destined for implosion...

Better than that, let's just not hold personal grudges against anyone.

I agree totally with that. No grudges here at all. I have nothing against Rose Hill at all! I just have problems with constant conspiracy theorists who can't accept the fact that their team is not always going to win (on the floor or off). I never said that Coach Euton didn't deserve the COY award. I wouldn't have gotten on here and complained if she did!!! I didn't even say that Coach Kidwell deserved the award for that matter. My only problem with this whole thread is that all season long I have read from certain posters that there was some big conspiracy against RH and that it even continues into the off season. Simply sad!!

My thoughts exactly Go Radio.
