April 6, 200719 yr Not nervous, at least not yet, but they instantly got one of the top coaches in the SEC.
April 6, 200719 yr Why would anybody be nervous over a coaching hire? ONly one that might have done that was the other Billy.
April 6, 200719 yr Not nervous yet, because they still have very little talent coming back, but, if Gillespie brings with him Jordan and Holmes and could somehow land Patterson, then they may start to squirm a little...
April 6, 200719 yr Does anyone remember UK recruiting BJ Holmes....I'm curius because he had UK listed as one of the teams recruiting him
April 6, 200719 yr Maybe not yet, but soon................Very soon!! This guy can flat out coach and recruit!
April 6, 200719 yr This thread is out of its mind. Gillispie has orchastrated some good turnarounds, and I think he's a good selection. But his record isn't frightening anyone. School.....Year.....Record......Conference......Postseason UTEP.......02-03......6-24.........3-15...........None UTEP.......03-04......24-8.........13-5...........NCAA 1st Round A&M........04-05......21-10........8-8............NIT Quarterfinals A&M........05-06......22-9........10-6............NCAA 2nd Round A&M........06-07......27-7........13-3............NCAA Sweet 16 How many conference titles, regular season or tournament? 1 regular season title, in the WAC. No tournament titles. One Sweet 16. Don't get me wrong. I think the guy has potential. UK got a good one. But no one in the SEC is hiding under the covers. They're probably still celebrating that UK fans ran off the guy with a history of dominating the conference.
April 6, 200719 yr Based on his record this is a pretty big leap of faith for the UK program. Good luck to Gillispie, he seems like a pretty good guy.
April 6, 200719 yr They're probably still celebrating that UK fans ran off the guy with a history of dominating the conference. I don't think he'll scare everyone either, but I KNOW nobody was scared of Tubby.
April 6, 200719 yr I don't think he'll scare everyone either, but I KNOW nobody was scared of Tubby. :thumb:
April 6, 200719 yr Yes, there will be a press conference later today that many of the SEC teams are going to go ahead and forfeit their game at Rupp for fear of the new coach. lol Since Pitino revived the program and even before then I'm sure, UK has always had a HUGE target on them. They haven't been a real national power in a few years, but every team is going to bring their best since UK is often and likely will always be a measuring stick for teams on how good they may be. If BG gets UK back in the top 10, that target will just become bigger.
