Batman or Robin?

Featured Replies

If Billy wins this year...and gets another within 3-4 years...he is second fiddle to no one...bet on that....just like here in the 'Ville, most of the fans saw Petrino and Pitino as equals....that is an awesome mix. Coach K (Krag)...will likely garner the same repsect after this season.

Sorry buddy. Louisville and Florida are two COMPLETELY different programs. Football has always been king at UF and always will be. People seem to forget that Urban Meyer just won a title too.

Billy Donovan will always be Robin at Florida

What some of you don't understand is that not everyone has to be BATMAN.....many people of Donovan's character enjoy the limelight when it is their time...and in the offseason it is family time. Which I found out yesterday that Wiliam's parents live in Gainesville, and so do his in-laws...they all moved together....pretty strong family ties right there in Florida.

Not a bad life if he stays at Florida. No pressure and big money to boot. Hit the final 4 every few years and you're a god. Some people would love that life but something tells me it's not for Donovan.

You think getting to the Final Four every few years wouldn't make you popular at UK?

Being in the Final Four every 4th or 5th year, and winning a title half that much would satisfy 80% (or would it be 82%??) of UK fans.

Hey, he can stay and be Robin if he wants to....his call.

I think there are more mountains to conquer for Mr. Donovan. UK? Maybe. NBA? Maybe. Stay at Florida? Maybe....but he'll always be biding everyone's time till football season begins. Ho Hum.

Why do all of you think Billy D will always be Robin and second fiddle at Florida? He is on the verge of winning his 2nd national championship in as many years. Sure Urban has his, but last time I checked 2 is more than one, and that would make Billy D the more prominent coach whether you all want to admit it or not.

What if OSU wins the national championship in football this past year? We wouldn't even be talking about Billy D being Robin at Florida

You all said the same thing about Tubby.

And if Billy D doesn't have a final 4 appearance in the next 3 to 4 years, he faced that same scrutiny that Tubby faced from the fans.

Face it guys...UK isn't the same powerhouse it used to be...what makes you think getting a new coach willl change that?

Sorry Charlie...it won't matter...he will be second fiddle - doesn't matter if he gets a 20 year contract. And, by the way, Pitino and Pertrino...no comparison - not even close.

Billy Donovan will always be Robin at Florida

But he will still be kicking Batman's...

I saw where Donovan's dad said he (Billy) definitely should talk to UK in yesterday's paper.

He's 2nd fiddle at Florida if he wins 5 in a row. That's just the nature of the beast in Gainsville...

:thumb: I agree completely. There is more money to be made in football at Florida than there ever would be in basketball, no matter how many national titles they win. Plus, the facilities at Kentucky are unbelieveable for basketball.

Popular but not a god and the expectations after getting there would far exceed those at Florida. Hence, less pressure.

It was the former coach that brought the program down. Do you thinik UCLA, UNC, Kansas and Duke are still the powerhouses they used to be?

Yeah.. look at UNC. New coach didn't do anything for them.

Billy D will be Robin no matter what if he stays in Florida. He might like it or he might not, we don't know.

As soon as he gets to UK, he becomes Batman.

Yeah.. look at UNC. New coach didn't do anything for them.
