March 31, 200719 yr Is Belein not somebody that UK should be looking at? He has won everywhere he has been and has done all of this while doing more with less.
March 31, 200719 yr More with less before he got the job. Sounds familiar... Belien and Tubby are very similar IMO. A fine coach and classy guy, but I doubt he could/would recruit any better than Tubby.
March 31, 200719 yr We are talking about the guy who just led his team to the NIT championship, right? Shoot.. lets interview Odom while we're at it.

Yeah but that team is West Virginia and he has done an unbelievable job with that program. I really like Belein and would love if he was being considered for the UK job.

I have never watched a Belein coached team that doesn't hustle on every trip down the floor. I would not have any problem with him being the next UK coach.
March 31, 200719 yr Author I agree. I have never watched a Belein coached team that doesn't hustle on every trip down the floor. I would not have any problem with him being the next UK coach. Jim Calhoun said that his offense is like trying to figure out a Rubic's Cube with all of the screens, backdoor cuts, etc. Personaly I like that type of basketball. I can go down to the local rec center and watch all of the playground ball I can stand if that's what I wanted to watch. I hope that everybody remembers while all of this Donovan rage is going on that Tubby Smith kicked his can (and kicked it hard) on a regular basis in 8 out of the last 10 years.

Say what you will, but in all truthfullness West Virginia should have been in the NCAA tournament way before Kentucky should have, and with Belein only having two players that were considered in the top 100 in their recruiting classes makes it even more impressive. You can have all of your Mayo's and the Mickie Dees. I want to see players putting it all on the line every second of every game and play within a team concept. Kentucky got in this year ahead of some other teams by the simple fact that they are Kentucky, and some of the others just simply were not Kentucky. Belein, in my opinion, would be a steal.
March 31, 200719 yr I still feel Billy D is the best fit, but, I agree, Belein would be a great 2nd choice, maybe not the biggest name out there, but, still a solid coach..
March 31, 200719 yr and who knows, he may could still sway Patterson and Lucas to come, considering the geographics..

It is obvios the Billy D. is at the top of the list for U.K. but I personally would have absolutely NO PROBLEM with Belien at the helm at U.K.. The man can flat out coach the game of basketball, imo one of the best in the country.

I would love to have him at U.K.! :ylsuper: :ylsuper:
March 31, 200719 yr If Belein was our coach this season, Woo would have probably been an All-American!
