April 1, 200719 yr Author ^I'm sorry, but I'm just not seeing it. Tubby never had a losing season. Belein has. As recently as 4 seasons ago. Besides, had you heard of Belein before their run the past 3 seasons or so? Didn't think so. He's not a household name for a reason. He's a good coach, but not a great coach. Plus, when UK looks for a coach, I'm sure they're looking for youth in their search. How old is Belein? I think his prime has past. He just not the right fit for the Cats. Yeah I heard of him before West Virginia. He coached that mighty powerhouse, tradition rich program know as the "Richmond Spiders" and took them to the big dance a year before he came to West Virginia. Past his prime? My biggest question to you son is , just how old are you anyways?
April 1, 200719 yr Past his prime? My biggest question to you son is , just how old are you anyways? That doesn't matter. I think it's telling that the three biggest names I've heard in connection to the UK job (Donovan, Wright, Matta) are about an average 10 years younger than Beilein. On top of all this, its no secret UK needs an upgrade in recruiting. Does Beilein bring that to the table? Name one 4 or 5 star recruit he's enticed to come to Morgantown. I'll save you the time. It's zero. He keeps the cupboard stocked with 2 and 3 star talent, and gets the most of out them, but sometimes that isn't good enough.

My biggest question to you son is , just how old are you anyways? I'll agree with you in my opinion he is one of the best out there and sooner or later a pretty good size house hold name is going to snatch him up and they will be turned into a serious contender. As far as coaching ability goes, I think he is a top 5 coach. Recruiting has yet to be proven, but to his credit its hard to recruit at WVU, but some of those not highly ranked players on WVU team I would love to see at Kentucky, they play with all heart.

I take it you have never been to Morgantown, West Virginia, and maybe perhaps, the way it sounds, maybe never even out of Lexington.. A recruit being a 4 or 5 star is all only an opinion anyways, but since we are on the subject, how many 5 star recruits has Wright had?

I'll give you that, but one question is this do you think he could do better recruiting at UK than WVU? It is really hard to give a good recruiting pitch to WVU than it is to UK. But I do agree his recruiting ability is unproven, but if he could land those 4 or 5 star and they let him coach them, then youd be looking at a good team.
April 1, 200719 yr haha, OK there sonny. I take it you have never been to Morgantown, West Virginia. And I'd say a Top 50 recruit will never be there, either.

He would have more resources, that's for sure. But how many Top 50 guys have heard of him? What connections does he have? Sure, he might pull in the talent from WV, but that pool is pretty shallow. If there are questions as to whether or not Matta can bring in talent on the national level, you sure as heck know Beilein would struggle even more.
April 1, 200719 yr Author And I'd say a Top 50 recruit will never be there, either. I personally think all this rating stuff is all a bunch of garbage , but he does have one guy YOU EXPERTS tabbed as a top 25 recruit. I noticed you failed to answer that question about Wright.

April 1, 200719 yr X and O wise on the offensive end JB is far, far superior to Tubster. Defensive wise Tubby is probably better. Recruiting wise JB and Tubby are even, they get the same kind of talent and JB is in Morgantown, which is kinda like Siberia.
April 1, 200719 yr I noticed you failed to answer that question about Wright. Wright has had I believe only one 5 star (Frazier) but a ton of 4 star kids have been spectacular for him. Lowry, Ray, Foye, Sumpter, Nardi and the Corey's next year. Not bad for a small private school in Philly...
April 2, 200719 yr John Beilein....will be the next head coach at Michigan... Nice. Good move for him IMO. And if they make the Final Four before UK, I will be more than glad to apologize to firebird.
