Was Coach K at Duke in 1976, when UK beat them in the Final 4? They were a very good program before Coach K and if I were a young coach, would highly consider them over any other. I did say NC was a close 2nd, but, they could also be considered Dean Smith U. They've not had near the success Duke has had in the last 20 years, IMO and the recruiting has been about even...

Lets think about this. I was talking about TITLES. How many titles did they win before Coach K? Zero!!! Coach K IS Duke. Kentucky and UNC have had other coaches besides Rupp and Smith WIN TITLES. Study up on UCLA's coaching history and try to tell me the coach there has very little pressure...that just isn't the reality of it. UCLA is one of the highest pressure jobs in college basketball. Just because the pressure may be less than UK or UNC doesn't mean it isn't immense...

I was really commenting on the post you commented on. I agree that there is tons of pressure at UCLA.

Kentucky has been great for 60+ years. UNC has been great for 50+ years. Duke has been great for 30+ years. Duke isn't in the same league as the other two when it they compare entire histories. If they were talking the last 20 years then yes, Duke would be the best.

Obviously, UK would be my pick, but from an objective standpoint, I'd say UK or UNC.

In all seriousness, it has all the potential, power, support, yet a more managable level of pressure than the others listed have.

Think for a second about a program like Nebraska or Minnesota. Huge schools, tremendous state-wide support, not a great deal of pressure, success would be wildly celebrated, plenty of cash available (huge number of alumni in and around the state), in a big conference so TV exposure would be available. The hardest part, and it would be a challenge, is to get kids to come there. However, Nebraska has done it for Football (obviously), Volleyball, baseball, etc. Minnesota has a fantastic Hockey team, so they're used to entertaining top flight kids. To me, if I was (as described above) looking to be somewhere for 20 years -- these may be teams I'd consider.

It was 1978 and the answer is no he was not there.

I didn't vote because I think it could be all the above except I would not have had Florida on the list. I think any of the top six you have up there could probably stake some kind of claim. By the way why would you list Florida with basketball schools?

I LOVE Kentucky hoops. But I don't believe that it is the greatest job in college hoops. Right now it would probably be UT or UF (on SEC schools). After that, I guess it depends on what you want out of a job.
