Billy Donovan to the Heat?

Featured Replies

He may play everyone to get the offers up, but I don't think money will be the decision maker. He'll be well paid wherever he ends up, so I think he'll go where he thinks the best fit is.

On a side note, anyone think Billy will look at Rick's foray into the NBA?

Well, Rick said earlier this week that he quit telling Billy what to do in 1987.

I will say that I don't think anybody has a clue what is actually going on right now. I think this is a dangerous game that both UK and Donovan are playing. It may end up damaging both in the long run.

:thumb: Probably more damage to U.K., Donovan is holding all the leverage and will come out great no matter where he ends up or if he remains at Florida.

He may. He will definitely reap a financial windfall from all of this. His reputation could take a beating depending on the actual facts of this episode.

Which would mean Riley to UK, correct?

Thats what I was thinking as well..

Why is Wireman not in this thread?

Because the other thread is a more likely scenario. He will never take an NBA job that would keep him away from his family so much.

I do think he will look at what happened to Pitino before he jumps to the NBA. The most likely scenario is he plays UK for a HUGE contract and then remains at Florida and sucks every bit of money he can out of it.

Just making this one up, or do you have an uncle who's a realtor in Miami?
And I have never ever "made anything up" to post it on here.

It's hard for me to imagine a college beeing able to compete with a pro team in a bidding war. They better be careful on this, if they offer Billy D a massive amount and he turns it down for the Heat then the next coach in line is going to expect the same amount. Could get very interesting.

Andy Katz (espn) just stated on espn that Donovan to UK was unlikely. Stated that his family was against it due to all the bashing and being in the "fish bowl" with every move and word you say scrutinized along with your family attacked verbally and undue stress put on them. Katz's words and thoughts, not mine. "IF" this is true (and it may not be)..........Congrats to all the no clue bashers, you were one of the reasons a good coach left and may be one of the reasons that a good coach would look at it in a different light before cominhg to U.K., I hope you feel good about yourselves:irked:  . Katz also made the statement that all the talk didn't bother Tubby as much as it was weighing on his wife and family and they were suffering dearly from it and that was a major factor in his decision. OTS is a family first man, ALL class.

I agree with him here.

:thumb: I have been hearing this all morning 98. Nothing made up with your thread. My last post about all the "bashing" was not made up either, Andy Katz (espn) was just reporting that a few minutes agao on espn's "Mike and Mike" show. The comment about I hope the bashers are feeling good about thermselves was mine.

Andy Katz is almost never right. He throws enough theories out that eventually one of them is bound to hit.

I cannot stand him or Gottdweeb. ESPN could do much better than these two.

In my opinion a better source.
