Donovan doesn't tell Wildcats not to call him

Featured Replies

Donovan would become a $4 million man at UK, who gets to play in a new $30 million practice facility with a boss and group of boosters who will grant his every wish. I think that would be enough to consider leaving Florida....

You're right that is appealing. But he has been in the spotlight in Gainesville...and is right now again. He has already done what UK fans want him to do....and I am quite sure he is has carte blanche in the goings on at UF.

Not to mention that in today’s sports media a lot of attention is paid to Coaches who have had success at multiple programs as if it solidifies them as a better coach if they can have success at more than one program.

If he wins at Florida again, what else is there to do? How do you top back to back titles? What will the future expectations be at UF and how will the fan base react if you can't duplicate past success. A lot of these same Florida basketball fans are Florida football fans also and we all remember how some success with Spurrier spoiled them.

^ Sure...but under Spurrier it didn't matter. Coach K went back to back...faltered and made Duke likely better than they ever were..winning another title....there is something to be said about sustaining success at one place as well as being successful in multiple places.

I don't think Duke has been as good as they were when they went back to back. I don't think any team has. I also don't remember any high profile jobs opening up after Duke went back to back that Coach K's name was linked to.

^ Of course he wasn't, coaches didn't shift like they do now...and he was already a legend...much like Billy D is becoming...Now, as far as not being as good, the '99 Duke team, and the '01 team were disgustingly good...the '99 team lost a buzzer beater to UC, and the championship by 2 to UConn....37-2 (I think?)...2001, was the best group of starting talent (all 5) that I have ever seen in a Duke uniform.

So if Billy D is the next coach at UK, we all know that he recruited Patterson heavy and Patterson likes him from what I gather. What about Lucas situation. Does Billy sign him or let him go to Maryland? Would Lucas in fact come to UK with Billy D as the coach. UK needs Patterson in the worse way but keep in mind they also need Lucas in a pretty bad way too.

anythoughts....anyone?

Patterson and Lucas could still end up at UK if Billy D takes the job.

I wonder if the next UK coach can make a push for Anthony McClain, the 4star center that has yet to be unsigned. That could be huge if that could be pulled off. Given the situation with Morris leaving that is Immediate playing time.

 Yep, I forgot that you were the all knowing one and everyone else was an idiot....Silly me.

BTW, I don't think he comes either, but I think there is a real chance of it.

You beat me to the punch!

I think it now fair to say that Billy is at least thinking about the UK job! He has had a couple of opportunities to say no thanks I am happy at Florida but he has not done so to this point. I think the Florida AD will now press him to see what's up.

Would say it's a good possibility his agent is in talks with Mitch at this time.

Maybe it will be Donovan...if it is you all will likely get Patterson, which you desperately need. I hate UK, everyone knows that....but it is not because I am a Duke fan.

If Donovan comes UK doesnt miss a beat next year compared to what would have went down with Tubby at the helm.In fact it probably seals the deal with the recruits we're after.

Morris and Crawford's situations would have been the same no matter the coach.

No... ;)

I'm about 90% right now that Billy D is the next in line at UK...

I hope you are 100% sure very soon.:ylsuper:
