My question is this: USF has been to the NCAA twice in their history. Yes, they're Big East now, but they weren't always Big East and they had no success. With Florida a solid program and Florida State and Miami competitive in a conference that is more local, can USF ever really become a solid program? The Big East is huge and Florida people don't associate with the Big East...would Pelphrey be stepping into a black hole that he might never be able to escape? They're doing fine in football. I believe I said that if they have the same commitment to B'Ball, then they'll be in good shape.

I'm just saying that's a big "if." And even with a commitment, are they even close to challenging fifteen other schools? Many of those schools are "basketball" schools. Remember, in football, the Big East only has two or three "football" schools. The amount of ground to gain isn't nearly as large.

If D'Antoni comes to UK and Donovan fills that or another a void (caused by D'Antoni's departure) in the NBA.... same scenario.
