Anybody remember how dominant UCLA was 30 yrs. ago, then a couple bad coaching hires. I see the same thing happening at Kentucky right before our eyes.

 

It can happen and will if changes are not made.

 

 

Was it bad coaching hires, or a disassociation with Sam Gilbert. Don't forget that John Wooden coached UCLA for 15 years before he won a title.

I'll play. Tubby's won with Rick's boys who were already champions. Roy had to coach up his 8-20 team so he gets the credit. How'd I do TBers?

Yea, it is amazing isn't it. I give credit to Tubby and Roy. The 98 team had to learn a new offense and new defense and really began to jell in Mid-February after a home loss to Ole Miss. Roy had a good team in 03-04 and won it all the next year.

Especially considering that there are only 11 coaches currently coaching a Division 1 team that have won the championship PERIOD with anyone's players. Out of those 11, 7 (Knight, Pitino, Donovan, Calhoun, Boeheim, Gary Williams, and Izzo) have missed the entire tourney at least once since Tubby has been at UK.

But this is KENTUCKY, if any of those other coaches were to coach at UK, surely they would be able to win a National Championship right away.

No times are not the same as 30 yrs. ago, but you dont see N.C.- Duke taking 10 yrs. between at least being a threat.

 

UK has been a #1 seed twice and a #2 seed once in the 00's...I'd say they've been quite the threat under Tubbys regime....I have no problem when people have an opinion, but, I hate when they highly exagerrate things and because of the past 2 years, make it into 10 and thats certainly not close to being the case....

Only way that's going to happen is for Tubby to win a National Championship or UK to fire Tubby.
