'75 was the year McCreary was supposed to win with Stephens as a junior. He missed a big shot at the end where the McCreary people thought he got fouled against Pulaski at PC. Kind of reminiscent of the ending of the West Jess game vs Lincoln. Pulaski had upset Danville in the first round to get to that game. Wasn't Crab Orchard the "Cubs"? Stanford, Waynesburg, Hustonville, Crab Orchard, and who consolodated? One other 12th Region tidbit. Last other team to win region on first consoldated year? Laurel County in '71. Pulaski in '81 and Mercer County '07 missed the boat. It was their turn to consolodate and win the 12th

I hate consolodation. Give me a 32 game schedule that you can fill from a 4 county area and an 8 team district tournament anyday.

I agree it was a bad no call, but W Jessamine got the ball back after Fain 2 handed fouled a Lincoln kid on the other end and that was another bad no call. But overall the officials definetily swallowed the whistles a little early in this game. But as a fan it was a great region game.

Also, Paul Young was a Sophomore on the 1980 team. His son, Ryan, had a big game tonight. If I remember the story right, Paul didn't play in the Sweet Sixteen game against Union County because he didn't have his game shorts. He wore the warm ups but couldn't take them off to go in.

Congrats to LC. They played hard and physical and the physical play is what helped them last night. Braxston Miller stayed out of foul trouble and that is what was needed. Miller and Perrin got into a heated exchange towards the end of the first half. Miller stepped it up another notch from there on Perrin only had 6 points the second half.

Enjoy this win, it was great. Lets go to Rupp and make some noise.

Have to say I got a bit teary eyed last night. Right after the game Ryan Young climbed through the crowd to get to his Grandmother (Patty) and Grandfather (Larry) Young to give them hugs after the game!!!

It was one of those classic feel good moments. Congratulations to a great kid and a great family!!! I have known them all my life and I am very happy for them.:thumb: :thumb:

Some more trivia.....Lincoln County has three young men on the team this year whose fathers were also on Regional Championship Teams. Ryan Young and father Paul, Daniel Ralston and father Steve, and Tanner Edgington and father Bruce. What a great night for Lincoln County and their fans!!!

According to the linescore, Lincoln co. took control of this one in the 4th Quarter. Good luck to the Patriots.

McKinney vs. Nancy was the first high school basketball game I ever attended. McKinney colors were Purple and White. I think their mascot was the Bearcats. Coach Gooch was the head Coach. I was about 3 years old. I remember it was a small gym with a balcony. It was jammed packed with probably 200 in attendance. I think there was a band on the stage and they played the old fight song with Combs as their instruments.

LC finally decided to press and zone, like the first time these two teams met. The zone was the difference in the game, nice adjustment.

 

Glad to see the Pats win. People talking about the "no call" in the West game must realize that the ref's were asleep due to the style of play West Jess. incorporates onto the floor. Man is it boring, but effective. They are the best defesive team I have seen all year.

I thought it was a good no call, he got bumped but he initiated the contact. Lincoln got several good looks at the three but were just ice cold.
