I am not saying the paper did not do a god job with the preview of the 10th region tournament . I truly enjoyed the write-ups and all other information ,but what I'm saying is that at one time the 10th region printed quality programs, with the team picture ,name under picture ,roster with grade ,position and height and won-loss record on the same page. The paper had all this but if you wanted to identify a player ,you had to go from the picture to Page 38 to find out who they are. Little inconvenient .I did not mean to get people all stirred up. Just wondering what happened to those nice programs. The 40th district had a nice boys-girls quality program.

I've always looked forward to the paper's 10th region editon for the Tournamnet, especially like the paper's 10th region they put out at the beginning of the season.

The 10th Region program (the Ledger-Independent insert) has been the same since 1997 when we first joined the region, but perhaps as you say, the team specific information might have been more centrally located to the primary piece featuring that individual team.

Actually, I think that there was another program last year. I could be totally wrong here, but I thought that The Beat, which was a local smaller scale paper/magazine type did the tournament books/papers last year. They are no longer up and running. I am about 85% sure on this one.

PRESSROW-- You can accuse me of complaining , I think they need a nice (well composed) tournament program whether anyone else does or not.:ylsuper:

The 10th regional tournament , for some reason does not have programs to buy to identify the players of the different teams. The local paper had pictures and write-ups. I can remember when the 10th region had quality programs. Now ,they're selling the inserts from the local paper. Bad deal.

Yeah programs that had a picture, roster and maybe the teams record.

No in depth stories with the coaches being interviewed, tournament history or even regular season results. That would just be too much to digest.

I'm reminded of a joke in the movie Airplane.

"Do you have something lite?"

"How about this leaflet, Famous Jewish Sports Legends."

:p

The Girls' 10th Region Tourny was offering the inserts this season at Montgomery Co. I actually like this better. By using the newspaper inserts it keeps cost down for people who otherwise wouldn't bother buying one that was 3 or 4 dollars. The girls had individual articles and pictures of each of the teams. I was impressed by their inserts, I haven't had an opportunity to see a program from the Boys 10th region tourny yet.

I disagree

Thanks ,I'm glad someone out there agrees . I had a person tell me yesterday afternoon that he had every program from the 60's until they quit making them.He told me that every once in a while he gets them out and they bring back a lot of good memories. Sorry people , they were much nicer.By the way , he doesn't keep the papers.:ylsuper:

I disagree

You have got to be kidding right?

1. I have newspaper clippings from the early 70's when Maysville beat Louisville Central in the state tournament. They are still in great shape. Just got to know how to take care of them.

2. As far as who prints the programs, that is not a problem as there is more than one business in town that does professional print work.

When you go to the State Tournament this year go out and buy a newspaper to see whose playing and check the roster but be sure not to buy one of the tournament programs.(They don't have those in depth comments made by the coaches)

I got one from the girls tourney and yes it was very nice...

I'm not sure what they cost but the small girls and boy's program at the 40th district were quality. The picture and roster made it easy to identify players from the other teams. They had sponsors and sold them for a dollar.
