After a so-so freshman season, Morris entered the 2005 NBA draft only to have a series of lethargic workouts sour everyone on him. No executives could find a positive thing to say about Morris, and "He outplayed both of them," the official said. "He was the best player on the floor. Listen, I couldn't stand this kid for two years. He was out of shape. He didn't seem like he cared at all. But from what I've seen out there, most teams can't get a guy like Morris in this draft. You just can't find quality bigs out there. The bolded he seems to be returning to. and Even so, Morris probably is an aberration. He was a skilled big man, but his work ethic and commitment was so suspect that NBA executives almost took a personal affront to it. There was a belief that Morris would've been a first-round pick if he had gone pro straight out of his Atlanta high school. After his freshman year, several executives and agents say that Morris still might have been picked in the first round, if only he hadn't exposed himself to private workouts with teams. It seems Tubby was not the only one wrong about this kid. And lastly, the article is dated 12/11/06. Wonder if the big red flag is waving firmly with how he has played recently. I don't think he signs with a top franchise team. One of the losing franchises might sign him but such a signing is the reason why they are a losing franchise.

If they lost those two, it would mean that UK was essentially bringing in one player that is worth anything in Stewart, and a project in Williams. They'd have to hit the trail to find whatever scraps were left. In other words, they'd be in bad shape because as bad as this senior class was, if AJ is the only real prospect coming from the next then this one would be worse. Patterson and Lucas are MUSTS. Isaiah Rusher is a likely target if Patterson goes elsewhere.....If UK misses on both Patterson and Lucas, I see Stephon Pettigrew and Isaiah Rusher wearing the Blue and White. Going into last year, Rusher was ranked higher than Patterson, however he has had some off court issues that have caused his stock to plummet. He is definitely not 5-star talent, but way more than a project as well. A huge plus with this kid is that he is a bad, bad man. The type of guy that if Joakim Noah tried to pull that finger wag crap on him, would leave Noah with one less finger....He's basically an enforcer a la Jamaal Magloire.

March 5, 200719 yr I know the game and recruiting have changed over the last 20 years, but what ever happened to the days that 75% of the top 30 HS players (each year) had UK as a possibility..... then 1 - 3 of these guys commits... Now, we have to beg players to come to UK?????? So, I really don't accept the above, as a logical reason for the poor position that the recuriting is currently in... Thats comical..UK has never had 75% of the top 30 HS players with UK on there list...Yes, there have been years when UK was on 7 or 8 of the top 30lists, but, thats a far cry from 75% and maybe 1 of 5 comitted to the Cats. It's okay to be frustrated and wanting a change, but, at least, be factual and exagerative...

I honestly think that's one of the things that UK has been missing these past few years. We need an enforcer. I don't really care if he is a thug. Just one dude who you wouldn't cross for love nor money.
March 5, 200719 yr Not sure of that. Morris is a liability in so many fashions. While talented, he can only play in a certain style of game. A fast-paced game that increases possessions only encourages him to foul more and play less. With Morris gone and the team being smaller, Tubby could go with a more of a full-court pressing system that he cannot do with Morris on the floor. Stephenson on the back of the press who is quick and can block shots is a better option than Morris. The problem with pressing is that KY is void of team speed. They would definitely have to double team the post on a consistent basis. I'm sorry, but KY is not talented enough to consider their most talented player a liability.

Do you mean the 3 guys leading KY in scoring right now. Granted they haven't "lived up" but if we had 4 classes like that we'd be better.

He actually played HS ball with Jai Lucas for two years before getting kicked out of his HS. He is from the Houston, Texas area.

I think the team knows a majority of the team is coming back and if we get Patterson and Lucas then everyone will for sure come back...I do think Stevenson will transfer though if we get Patterson...
