9th Region - NCC @ Holmes

Featured Replies

The topic said it all "At HOLMES". I think it is a three dog race in the 9th and I'll take the home dog.

I think Holmes wins this one comfortably. Holmes is at home. Holmes has the better coach. Holmes is better 1-4. Holmes has the better bench.

Possibility that there will not be 120 points scored in this one if they played it twice.

Obviously NCC wants a game in the 40s and Holmes wants one in the 60s or more.

If NCC can work the ball (another big IF) and keep it in the 20s by halftime, then Holmes might get jumpy. If Holmes can force NCC into turnovers and playing catch-up then maybe they get into the 70s.

Remember this is the first year Holmes has beat NCC in a while. And while Kiernan missing the game this year was a factor, the rest of the Breds did not play well at all. If NCC wants to hang around in this one, they will all need to play well.

Key is how NCC guards handle the pressure. From what I hear they are great shooters but not the best ballhandlers. Holmes' swarming press can creat havoc for anyone, let alone guards like these. Its the same for any team with a big man, if you cant bring the ball down the court to get it to him, what purpose does he serve.

You see it all the time in Youth basketball, one team has a big 5'6 4th grader but no guards, what do you do. You press the heck out of the guards and never let them get into a halfcourt offense. If Holmes does this they win, but I think the NCC guards will do fine and I think Keirnan has a career game dropping 28pts and 14 rebounds on the Dogs. NCC 58 Holmes 53. Which actually goes against what I said in earlier posts about HOlmes winning the region. If they don't draw NCC in the 1st round I say they take the region but I think NCC is going to be the Holmes spoiler unfortunately.

I can see it all going down in all the ways that I've read in this thread, but I sure hope for NCC's sake that it doesn't come down to them at the foul line. That could be painful to watch.

I'm interested in the Holmes has the better coach statement. They may have a an older more experienced coach, but I think Brannen has done an excellent job this year. He inherited a team with only one player with significant varsity experience, they won the All A in the 9th region, were district champs and are a tough out in this years regional.

As almost everyone says, it comes down to NCC handling Holmes pressure. Half court game, NCC big chance.

Keirnan, Lipscomb, Geisler, I beleive they have had Varsity experience. But I get what your saying. They are not deep at all and he has done a good job with them but you also have to credit his staff.

I doubt eight were, how many of those loses can with the suspended players not playing, I know of three and there are probably more, plus the lost to GRC and more than Half of the loses came with out the suspend players.

Holmes had all their players when they played GRC.
