Fan heckling

AS long as they were not being disrespectful or degrading what is wrong with making a bunch of noise behind a team's bench. I remember last year's NCC/Highlands game up on the hill when the Bird fans were screaming and yelling during timeouts and the Breds had to move their chairs out on the floor. Rob Detzel was literally screaming to his team during the timeout. AFter the buzzer went off he walked back to the bench and actually smiled up at the fans as to say.. you got me.

I'm sorry to say that our student section at Rowan County gets a little carried away sometimes.

Welcome to the site observer1975.:thumb:

I was at a game tonight (girls game, but no ones talking over there). There was a group of young men ( football team ) stationed just behind the opposing team. As the game went on the young men grew worse and worse. At one point the boys were bent over the girls yelling, screaming, mocking their coach in their huddle, within touching distance. The Principal and Assistant Principle were there, along with the AD of the school. They just watched. It grew so bad, the coach had his subs bring the chairs out on the floor just so he could huddle with his team. The boys were cursing loudly, showing how old they were on their hands and more by the end of the game. Is this acceptable? I know the school I attended and my kids attend would never have allowed this to occur at our gym without the kids being dispersed or thrown out. A certain amount of this is supporting your team, but this was really ugly. If my son was doing that, I would have drug him out of the gym by his ear. I know several fathers of the girls were getting pretty irate toward the end. How much do you think is too much? Just interested in opinions on this.

Thats rediculous and obviously poor leadership from the administrators. Totally unacceptable.

This type of poor sportsmanship has no place in basketball or any other sport.

The coach, principal and/or athletic director should have all nipped it in the bud. Technicals should have been called if the didn't stop after a warning, and if it continued then security should have removed them from the gym.

There is no excuse for the school officials to allow this type of behavior!

There is nothing more pleasing to me than a good student section for girls or boys, but the student section can be great without being obnoxious and rude. I've seen these great student sections. However some schools allow their kids to be as they call it kids, but as I call it ( rude and obnoxious ). At the game that I was at tonight the student section would chant bull.... on any call they didn't like. Thankfully that would not be tolerated at our school, and taunting individual players as they did is in very poor taste.

did you read my post? Cursing leaning into the huddle. getting really close to touching the girls/coaches. I'm sorry, that is too much

I hate to sound like an old fogey, but I think this behavior is typical of what I see from this generation of children. Many of them have become desensitized to violence, language, drugs, sex, etc. by the constant bombardment of movies, tv, video games and music. But behavior such as those described here should not be tolerated by any adult in charge. I don't know what school you're taliking about but I would be willing to bet thatr this behavior goes unchecked during the school hours as well. It's a sad commentary, my friend

You hit the nail on the head and it's going to get worse.
