March 1, 200719 yr If they have been rising since man has been measuring them, why were scientists claiming 30 years ago that we were heading for another ice age? I also would like you to tell me what the main contributor to the greenhouse effect is, since Gore so conveniently left it out of his film. The main contributor is water vapor, followed by CO2, then by ozone (O3). And since warm air will hold more water vapor than cooler air, increases in global atmospheric temperatures due to the CO2 greenhouse effect will lead to higher specific humidity levels (i.e. more water vapor in the air) which will lead to still further temperature increases. That was an easy one.
March 1, 200719 yr You mean those scientists that depend on funding to keep them in their job? There are plenty of retired Climatologists who totally disagree with data they submit. You know, Climatologists, those scientists that are actually qualified to study the climate. Fine, you stand by you statements, I stand by those that refute them. So? So the majority of the world's scientists in dozens of different disciplines have all been bought and paid for to advance a distortion of the truth? Who paid them and where did they get all that money? You'll have to tell me some of your UFO theories some time.
March 1, 200719 yr No. No. Anyone else? Well if its not me, then it must be heat and electricity generation. CO2 is the most prevalent greenhouse emission (72%) followed by CH4 (methane) (17%) and N2O (nitrous oxide) (10%) and the florocarbons (1%). However, methane traps over 21 times more heat per molecule than carbon dioxide, and nitrous oxide absorbs 270 times more heat per molecule than carbon dioxide. It was also pointed out on CNN this morning that the film industry is one of the most "earth unfriendly" industries in the LA basin, 2nd only to Silicon Valley.
March 1, 200719 yr Does anyone remember in the 1970's when the liberal media was scaring everyone about how the earth was cooling at an alarming rate and how in 30 years we would all be frozen to death? And has anyone read the story (I will try to find the link) about how the Amazon has recorded the coldest year ever in 2006, and scientist are scared that the habitat will be ruined if this decline in temperature continues. How about Y2K, does anyone remember that "scare you to death" story. Point is people need to quit trying to scare other people to death.

That was an easy one. Correct, it is water vapor. Don’t you just love how Gore left that out though?
March 1, 200719 yr Author OK.... Break it down for this simple-minded fool. Tell me point by point every fallacy of his position. Post #8, it's all there. Explain to me how nit-picking through those videos proves that there isn't a problem, or that there won't be a problem?Explain to me watching Gore's film proves there is. Two way street, don't you think? Tell me how we're going to survive as a human species if we don't begin to make changes? It'll be OK Rockmom, we'll survive until time's up. Just like with the dinosauars, one day, BOOM.......goodbye.

Tell me how we're going to survive as a human species if we don't begin to make changes? Read the article that RTS posted. It has ten pages of point by point explanations of what is wrong with Gore's movie. Is it true, who knows. You would have to research every point made and form your own opinion. But the same goes for Gore's movie and book.

When you're through thinking up snide remarks it'll give you time to look it up.

That's really the reason I created this thread in the first place.

Do you know for a fact that the majority of the world's scientists believe the same as Gore?
March 1, 200719 yr Thank you, woodsrider. That's really the reason I created this thread in the first place. I am not the smartest person in the world but I do know this...if you want people to believe something start an email, posted it on the internet or make a documentary. A great number of people will believe anything they read without doing an ounce of research on it.
March 1, 200719 yr Well, I'm a dumb liberal (apparantly) so I thought I'd let y'all tell me what I'm supposed to think. Apparently, the fact that I've read a lot about this issue, and come to my own conclusion that I think Gore's basic premise is worthy of considering is wrong. Lord knows how I get along in this world without y'all telling me what I should think and who I should believe.
