ladiesbballcoach
He lost to LSU without Glenn Davis and for all intent and purposes was blown out and we have learned through the UK threads that this is unacceptable. He lost to UT at UT and Florida was for all intent and purposes blown out in that game. And we have learned that is not acceptable in the UK threads. They lost to Vandy in a game they were for all intent and purposes beaten soundly. And we have learned that is not acceptable in the UK threads. And all of this as what should be a #1 team in the nation. Billy with all parts returning from a national championship team was not able to run the gamut and have an undefeated SEC season. Something that Tubby was ABLE to do. Since he cannot match Tubby's success with what is considered by so many of the UK faithful as a better recruiting job than Tubby has ever done, he must not be as good of a coach as Tubby. So based upon the grumblings of the UK faithful, Billy D should not be considered a candidate if Tubby was to leave.:sssh:
mobaar
5 losses on the season, 4 of them on the road 9 losses on the season, 5 of them on the road (+2 neutral) You pick.
ladiesbballcoach
Obviously, for the demands of the UK faithful, Tubby is as good of a choice as Billy D. Since Tubby has been ripped lately for the same losses that Florida is piling up, losing 3 of their last four games, dropping from a sure #1 seed to a #2 seed. We have been told over and over and over that the expectations for UK is higher than what is unfolding at Florida.

Who's been ripping Tubby for dropping from a sure #1 to a #2?? The Cats are UNRANKED and in the BOTTOM HALF OF THEIR DIVISION. Please don't compare them to a TOP 10 team that has CLINCHED THE SEC. Not at all but we have heard over and over had UK should NOT be losing to such teams that Florida is also losing too. Obviously, that would be unacceptable here. Someone in one of these threads was ripping Tubby for the seeds he had and entering the tournament as a high seed and than not winning it all. Can't have it both ways. If you guys are unhappy with UK losing to Vandy, UT and LSU, than you obviously would be unhappy with Billy D.'s teams doing the same.

ladiesbballcoach
UF=NATIONAL CHAMPS UK=LOSING AND OFF THE RADAR Billy D's coaching resume = 1 National Championship Tubby's coaching resume = 1 National Championships Over the past 5-6 years Florida has LESS WINS than UK. http://www.gatorzone.com/billydonovan/?sub=billy&page=stats With Florida playing a consistently weaker schedule than UK's, Billy D has lost 8 games in 04-05, 11 games in the debacle of player's defective left and right on him in 03-04. His Florida teams have averaged 9.8 losses PER SEASON. That is right at that UNACCEPTABLE 10 losses per season mark for UK fans. His teams have seen 2 first round NCAA exits and 3 2nd round exits. So in the last 6 years, last year was the ONLY year that Florida made it to the 2nd week of NCAA tournament. Seems like that is one of the complaints against Tubby. Billy D would make an EXCELLENT coach at UK but to think his success would be MUCH different than TUBBY is a mistake.

OK.. how many losing streaks does Florida have going in conference? UK has multiple game losing streaks to both Vandy (including Vandy's only two wins EVERY at Rupp) and Florida. Lame...UK will have more losses over the last 2 years than anyone...25 LOSSES And Tubby has still not taken any player he ever recruited to a Final 4... LSURock
Be serious. Look at the trend over the past decade. Tubby wins a title and then never takes a team that has been to multiple final fours to none. Billy takes over a team that has been to one final four to multiple final fours and wins a national title last season (Tubby lost 13 games in that same season). You tell me who is going in the right direction?
GulfCoastTyrant
I'm sure the Florida fans aren't happy with those losses. If Billy D falls apart, loses the SEC Tourney, Bounces out of the NCAA Tourney in the 1st round.....People will be very upset. Then next year if Florida goes: Unranked Loses the Vandy, Tenn, LSU again Has a 3 game losing skid Loses home games to lesser competition Can't get to the SEC Title game 2 years in a row Doesn't get passes the 2nd round of the NCAA. Yeah....People will definately be complaining. But Comparing Florida to UK....Florida still has: A recent National Title Wrapped up this years SEC Regular Season. Ranked in the top ten in the country. Getting a higher seed then UK could dream about.
