If Billy D falls apart, loses the SEC Tourney, Bounces out of the NCAA Tourney in the 1st round.....People will be very upset.

 

Then next year if Florida goes:

Unranked

Loses the Vandy, Tenn, LSU again

Has a 3 game losing skid

Loses home games to lesser competition

Can't get to the SEC Title game 2 years in a row

Doesn't get passes the 2nd round of the NCAA.

Yeah....People will definately be complaining.

 

 

But Comparing Florida to UK....Florida still has:

A recent National Title

Wrapped up this years SEC Regular Season.

Ranked in the top ten in the country.

Getting a higher seed then UK could dream about.

Be serious. Look at the trend over the past decade. Tubby wins a title and then never takes a team that has been to multiple final fours to none. Billy takes over a team that has been to one final four to multiple final fours and wins a national title last season (Tubby lost 13 games in that same season). You tell me who is going in the right direction?

While 2 is technically multiple, it is not generally described as multiple. BTW, Billy D has been to 2 Final Fours and 1 Sweet 16 in 12 years. Tubby has been to 1 Final Four, 3 Elite 8's and several Sweet 16's. Their results are similar.

 

Would you trade the two Final fours and 1 Sweet 16 appearance in 12 years for Tubby's 1 Final Four, 3 Elite 8's and 2 other Sweet 16 appearances in the same time span?

 

Would you trade Billy D's ONLY 3 2nd week appearances in the past 12 years for Tubby's 6 (THAT IS DOUBLE BILLY D's SUCCESS). ONE out of 4 years Billy D's teams make it to the 2nd week of the tournament. EVERY OTHER YEAR Tubby's teams have made it to the 2nd week of the tournament.

Exactly. Unfortunately, UK program now has a lot of fans who don't mind losing. And, they shoot the messenger when they are reminded of the facts.

Am I disappointed with the season? Absolutely. But I live in a world of reality that says KY will NOT always have a run like they did in 1996-98. EVEN KY doesn't have runs like that. They did in the late 40's and then took them 50 years to have another. And yet you guys act like it should happen every 5-7 years.

 

I guess Rupp lowered the program since he COULDN'T EVER match his own success in the late 40's.

 

BTW, UK fans on here have said they do not judge UK on just SEC crowns so I guess based on THEIR criteria, the SEC Regular Season crown means nothing.

Three. Lost to LSU, Vandy and UT in their last 4 games. All are losing streaks now.

He went to 2 Final Fours. One in '00 and last year. And again would you take that success and ONLY that success in this millenium compared to Tubby's.

 

In THIS millenium, Billy D has been past the first weekend of the NCAA tournament TWICE. THAT IS ALL. 7 years and 2 appearances.

 

Tubby has been to the second weekend of the tournament 4 times in this millenium. 7 years and 4 appearances.

 

I understand the national championship is nice. But would you trade that one national title for 4 other years of frustration.

 

Billy D would make a great UK coach but to think he would so something much different than Tubby is inaccurate. In fact, you are right, he might. He has had LESS overall success in the NCAA tournament than Tubby.

 

I stated in December that I expected this team to make a run to the Final 4. Not sure how you think that is a low expectation?

Not missing it all. Am I upset that UK is losing? ABSOLUTELY and I agree with you. But like my dad, you guys seem to think that UK is some might magical place that HS recruits beat the door down to attend. THAT IS NOT ACCURATE. AND NEVER WAS unless they received an EMERY/FED EX package.

 

Billy D would have success at UK but to think that he would consistently repeat the success of 96-98 is mistaken.

 

And their coaching results that Billy D's recruits and teams lose in the first weekend many more times than he has success. WHY would you expect that to be any difference at UK?

Billy D has built a program and won a national championship. Tubby has taken a program at the VERY TOP and taken it to mediocrity. You can spin that simple fact any way you wish...

 

And yes I would trade that national championship for 4 years of frustration. UK is mired in 10 years of frustration and getting worse...

But would you trade that one national title for 4 other years of frustration.
