February 25, 200719 yr At this point Geathers is a nice addition to the pass rush but JSmith is very good against the run, now if we could only get a few more sacks I'd be very happy. I think the Bengals did good in signing Geathers...another good season and his price would have been even higher. Yes they took a chance but if it pays off it won't hurt the pocket book. Right now it appears as if a long term deal has been in the works for Smith but it doesn't look good, I'd love to see a lower cap number come July15.
February 25, 200719 yr Geathers did have some big moments in the season, but Smith is alot harder to block and makes constant plays.
February 25, 200719 yr Not saying I agree with how much money we are throwing at Smith, but a guy that will give you everything he has (even if its never been what we expected out of him) is something the Bengals need on the field, in the locker room, and in general with these young guys.
