You guys don't get it. Every region does it differently when voting on Coach of the Year and player of the year. Some have papers or coach's associations, etc. Most of these awards are voted on before the begininng of the district tourney. In other words no post-season success or failure figures in. KABC voting (which is a big one because players who win get an automatic try-out for KY all-star team is already over) for Coach and player of the year is done already. For example in the tenth region if your team wins region the 10th region coach's association automatically gives you it's coach of the year award.

You are correct about us WE ARE EASTERN KENTUCKY HICKS! Thanks for noticing. As I stated earlier the voting is a joke in our region.

Rose Hill is a year away. Whatever they accomplish this year is extra gravy. After watching their 7th grade dispose of both Verity's 7th grade and Verity's 8th grade (3 times each this year) makes me believe that, when they arrive, they will likely "visit" a while. I didn't leave out part of my post. Rose Hill's 7th grade team is also its 8th grade team.

Did not mean to imply that anybody was a hick. Just stating that Coach Euton probably had to split the award because voting was already over when post-season began. Then they go to State finals and everyone wonders why she did not win it outright. Most of these awards are of a regular season nature.

I believe the only COY and POY poll is taken from the region coaches by the Daily Independent. Thats it.

Usually all staffs belong to this great organization. So basically assistant coach's Head coach's vote for these two awards. You can only vote within your region. COY, Rick Mays. To have that talent, and it being that young, with the expectations that were placed upon them and not buckle. Great job! Close second is Buddy Biggs. To take a team with a losing record last year, put in a new system, and possibly have a 20 win season is nice.

Got it. Thanks. When will ADI do that? After the season? If so it would make sense. That way you could include the post-season results into your decision.

I do not think Rick mays is deserving of the COY. He does not do much coaching during games. Those boys basically just play however they want. I am not bashing them, they have obviously been successful, but to name someone COY he/she would have to show that their coaching abilities have somehow been beneficial to the season. I just do not see that in Coach Mays. I would have to say my vote would have to be for Buddy Biggs, it is hard to argue with the changes in Ashland's record from last year to now.
