Wilcox, started since he was a sophmore "Work Horse" and the rest of the team is pretty good players.

 

Now, if Coach Biggs can play the same schedule next year with the same success. He should get coach of the year.

 

Coach Fraley, on the other hand starts an 8th grader, two freshmen, one sophmore and one junior. He has guided this very young team to an undefeated season at the Hill. They are closing in on a 20 win season, the last time that happened at the Hill, O.J. was running show.

If Fraley don't win coach of the year in the 16th this year, he will win it next year and the following year and the year after that and maybe even the year after that.

Right now you can make an argument for a lot of coaches, Biggs has got people excited about basketball again, Fraley has made Rose Hill a factor again, Mays won the all a, Cooksey has probally taken his team farther than anyone else, Dodd is undefeated in the region, and despite many predictions of the opposite, has continued to beat Elliot and Ashland, but I think the winner should be whoever takes their team to Rupp- and wins at Rupp

That should be the obvious choice when its time to vote.

This is the Coach of the year IMO b/c "coach of the year" is the best coach, not the coach working with the most talent or who's team wins the most, But the BEST COACH who shows his coaching ability. Thus Rex Cooksey is best in the 16th on his coaching, not players, nor wins.

 

Lastly, who mentioned in this thread would you consider not worthy of the Coach of the year (alpha by school):

1. Biggs (Ashland)

2. Mays (Elliott)

3. Cooksey (Fairview)

4. Dodd (Russell)

5. Fraley (Rose Hill)

Fraley has had a very good season. I would vote for him. But if you use the philosophy of Dawgdays, I think Coach Johnson at Bath Co. can't be overlooked. He has done a fine job.

Ah, Dawgdays, it is all a matter of spin. While you are correct, it can also be said that every school that Rose Hill has beaten this year (with the possible exception of Piarist) is much larger than is Rose Hill.

Freethrow, you're absolutely correct! Johnson @ Bath County has done an excellent job with his team (athletic and school size) while picking up good wins against Rowan, East, Raceland, Morgan and has currently won 7 of their last 9 games.

Of course it is about the coaches, Ms. Liberty. If you will reread the posts you will learn that someone stated that Fraley had coached Rose Hill to an undefeated season at home. Then, someone stated that that was no big deal because Rose Hill had not beaten a team with a winning record at home. This was followed with the reference to spin with the reference to the size of the schools that Rose Hill has beaten at home.

Scooter, I was not implying that "it was no big deal" just stating that Fraley's accomplishments this season are not as impressive as people want to say. The same way as I believe that Coach Dodd at Russell should be in NO WAY considered the coach of the year!!! His team has dominated the region but that does not speak to any of his credit as a coach. They win but he is still not that great of a coach.

With the recent success of Bath County, I would think that their coach is deserving of some consideration. And, after all, how many boys's coaches in this part of the world have a ponytail? But, then, very few of them have enough hair left for a ponytail.:thumb:
