February 21, 200719 yr I must say that I would never find a way to cheer for UK again if Calipari ever became the head coach.
February 21, 200719 yr My top two choices would be Billy Donovan and John Calipari. Both are excellent young coaches and both do a great job at recruiting. Its hard to imagine what kind of recruits Calipari could bring in with the resources and prestige that UK has. Coach Cal (48) is only 7 years younger than Tubby (55).
February 21, 200719 yr In a perfect world Barnhart would find a way to pry Tom Izzo from MSU. But that's just me.
February 21, 200719 yr In a perfect world Barnhart would find a way to pry Tom Izzo from MSU. But that's just me. I not sure if Izzo would come here anyways since he is such great friends with Tubby. I mean just remember the Crawford situation, Izzo wasn't going to let Crawford join them because of his friendship with Tubby. So I dont think he would come here to replace Tubby IMO...
February 21, 200719 yr Thad Matta Until he can prove that he can actually coach and just not recruit then no thanks...
February 21, 200719 yr Two totally different things! Those guysa are already at big time college basketball programs. Few is a at a place where he will always have a team that is tops usually when it comes to mid majors but never will be a top program and most likely will NEVER win a national championship there. Yeah he gets some good kids from the Seattle area but its not enough to where he can turn it into one of the top programs in America. At UK he would have the chance to coach at one of top programs in America and could recruit anywhere. Not to mention UK has brought in alot of people from the west coast as of late, so he still probably could bring in some of the players from that area.... Mark Few would not leave Gonzaga to come to UK. That's my opinion. That's what I think. That's all. :thumb: I was trying to make a point that just because I think a guy wouldn't leave his current job doesn't mean I think he's at a better job.
February 21, 200719 yr 1. Before he went to Marquette Creen was the lead recruiter for Izzo and was the point man on all of the talent that got them a title and 2 more FF runs. He has a great eye for talent and is very well connected around the country. 2. He took a very average Marquette program from middle of the pack status in CUSA to competing for Big East titles. Maybe not as impressive at UC or UL (who he seems to have passed from a consistency stand point) but at Marquette it's nothing short of amazing. 3. Much like Tubby he's a great human being and runs the program with integrity. Put someone with questionable values in charge of the UK program, and you're looking at probation before long. The Big Blue Boosters are a win at all cost group, and they have to be controlled with an iron fist. 4. The new talking point is that Tubby doesn't make players better over the course of their career. That's never been an issue at Marquette or even Michigan State. I can't remember Wade, Deiner, Novak, James and so on saying they weren't motivated for a big game. His teams come out playing hard from buzzer to buzzer. Isn't that what is being asked for here? That's enough for now but I've got more if needed... :thumb: I'd love to see Creen at UK. (Is it spelled Creen or Crean, BTW?) And, I think we'd have a realistic shot at landing him, at the least...I really think he and Donovan would/should be at the top of UK's search if Tubby were to leave.
February 21, 200719 yr In a perfect world Barnhart would find a way to pry Tom Izzo from MSU. But that's just me. Izzo's style is very similar to Tubby's...I really like him as a coach and I think he's a great one, but he wouldn't be my first choice at UK.
February 21, 200719 yr If this were to happen, then Billy Donovan would be my choice with Tom Crean my second.

I always make that mistake...
