Gaffney did some great things after high school, but Lewis Morris (1985) was a better high school player and probably Garrett Gregory (1983), too. Gaffney was probably the third best player in the county in 1986 behind Sanford and Jeff Miller, of Harlan.

I thought Raymond Cox came from Harlan County, I could be wrong...He is being inducted into the Hall of Fame at Cumberland...

As far as the game goes the 18 point spread was more than I thought it would be...

Another great one, though underrated, was Rodrick Robinson from Harlan. Miller got most of the ink because of his scoring but Robinson would go out and get you 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 6 steals, and 16 points every night while guarding the other teams best player. He had a very good college career after leaving Harlan.

Does this thread have anything to do with Bell beating Knox Central? Good win for Bell who lost Ryan Whitaker in a scary situation. Elam came out and helped with Whitaker when he almost passed out, Elam sure gets into referees, but hes a classy guy in my book.

BTW Ryan is okay and will be ready to play Tuesday.

These were all fairly good players. There was another guy that I can't think of his name that played for Maguire at Univ of North Carolina.

When reading a book about John Wooden it mentioned Macintosh from Lily that played on his first of many NCAA championship teams, by the way we sure forget quickly I don't see Mr. Basketball 2006 Walt Allen on your list but Proffitt is wow!

Raymond Cox had a son that was very successful at Harlan High School, Todd Cox. I believe he won a national championship with Georgetown College.
