Lex Cath vs Lafayette Incident

Featured Replies

Could the 5 sec count been running out and the girl tried to throw the ball off the Lafayette players leg? Only Miss Cash knows what she was doing.

As for the last three games, was Hans the head coach of all of these, I doubt it since this is his first yr coaching at LC. Also, if he dresses 10 w/only one girl fouling out, let me ask this question again, why was Cash in the game?

7 sec left, the ball out under your opponents basket, why not tell the inbounder to throw the ball to the other end of the floor(not to go out of bounds) if having trouble getting it in? Sometimes, these coaches that are suppose to be big time at big time programs really confuse me and make me wonder if I have forgotten how to play this crazy game of basketball.

With one sub fouling out a regular had to take her spot..that was Cash..could've have been any starter.

The point wasn't getting the ball inbounds, the point was it seemed to Catholic that Lafayette was pressing just to make the score closer(they didn't press against the starters in any of these games) so Coach Hans evidently wanted to make a point by handing the ball to Lafayette rather than make them press for the ball. A bush league play even he will admit.

They did it last year against Catholic when Todd coached.

To set the record straight. The last three games between these schools have been blow outs going back to last year and each time when Catholic has substituted Lafayette has left their starters in the game and have begun pressing. The catholic coach called time out with 7 second left and told Kelly just to hand the ball to the girl guarding her so that Lafayette to get the lead under 20 points. Unfortunately a handing of the ball turned into a throw or toss.... but not at the coaches direction. Someone from Lafayette said they heard the Catholic coach tell her to throw the ball. Incorrect..I was in that huddle. Cash was in the game because Blake Ratliff had fouled out and Catholic only dresses 10 players.

Coach Hans and Cash voluntarily took a game suspension because they regretted the incident and they knew it was not in the proper spirit of sportsmanship. Coach Hans regrets calling a time out with 7 seconds left must less asking Kellie to hand the ball to the girl guarding her.

Before you say or think it I am not a Catholic apologist..but I do know the facts.

This explanation of the "event" should settle any questions. Both Hans and Cash are class individuals. Whoever whined about the incident is not a class individual. Period.

That was the question. Dressing 10 players, why did the sub have to be a starter even though it was a sub that fouled out. That still leaves 4 other non-starters to put in. Not that I care, it was brought up.

Like someone else stated, why call a time out to begin w/? So what if Lafayette is pressing, throw the ball to 1/2 court or beyond and don't stoop as low as to hand the ball to the other team. Pour judgement on Jeff's part, IMO!

Is this the first time that we have seen this? No, Anything that involves the two time defending state champs will be analized to death.

If they dress 10 players, 5 have to start. At the end of the game, if the coach pulls all of his starters, there are only 5 players on the bench. That means all the starters are on the bench and all of the reserves are on the floor. If a sub fouls out, only starters are on the bench to sub for her.

This is your daily math/logical reasoning lesson.

Well, said, Claude Henry. But perhaps next time, to please the masses, the logical thing would be to only play 4 players or give one of the cheerleaders some PT

He admitted it was poor judgement. Quit beating a dead horse. As for the sub situation I think someone else explained that quite well. Sounds like you have a problem with coaches at "big time" programs, whether it be LexCath or Boone Co.

Poor move by the LC head coach although I understand it. He should not have called the TO. Just let the last 7 seconds play out and get off the floor. Instead, you end up with a girl taking a pass in the chest/gut at close range.

Good move by the LC AD to show that it was a very poor decision by the HC and player.

Where does this come from? IMO, Jeff made a mistake, not beating a dead horse in the mouth just voicing my opinion as everyone else on here. It amazes me how certain others can't wait for certain members to post something just to stir up controversey. I don't think I said anything about having a problem w/anyone at any big time program so why bring something like that up? I know, your opinion and your interpretation.

It would be interesting to see how many would still make their comments to others if their identity was known.

Regardless of the pursuit in life, the achievers are always subject to jealousy from the also rans.

This is just an example.

3ptshooter. You must have a very short memory if you don't recall saying anything about "big time" coaches at big time programs. Seems these are your words in the last sentence above.

My statement has nothing to do with achievers or jealousy from also rans. Simply a statement of fact from a previous post. No more, no less.

Not at all, I know what I said but how did you interpret this to include Boone w/your post? I don't have a problem w/anyone, usually, only ones who put too much into what they read and tried to put words into my mouth.

It was a simple statement, nothing more nothing less. I guess I expect more from certain programs which I shouldn't since no one knows what a teenager is thinking during a game!

Ridiculous. The coach did nothing wrong and "throwing" at another player is in the eyes of the beholder. Was the Lafayette player hit in the head? Did she have to leave the game? Was she injured? Shakespeare wrote about this type of overkill and it was called "Much Ado About Nothing".

Neither the coach nor Kellie Cash should have had the "event" even mentioned to them. Ridiculous.

By the way, why was Lafayette pressing. There are no 23 point shots available.

All good points!
