Mason County honors its senior basketball players tonight in a boy-girl doubleheader at The Fieldhouse vs. Harrison County.

 

On the girls' side, congrats to Torrey Chambers, who over the years has developed into a very solid post player; leading the Lady Royals in rebounds.:ylsuper:

 

On the boys side:

 

Tyreese Scott - we'll always remember how you willed us to the win vs. Campbell County last year, as well as your fearless defense.

 

Brad Pawsat - has become an athletic force in the middle. Maybe you'll get one more chance for an in-game dunk, and let's hope you keep those whiskers for a few more weeks.

 

Tony Browning - whenever we need a burst of energy, you seem to provide it. Those two shots last Saturday were huge.:thumb:

 

Nathan Stahl - Always does the dirty work down low with very little fanfare, we appreciate it.

Actually Mason County has two more seniors on the Girls team in Megan Reese and Kasey Hale. Both have contributed in different ways but both for the good of the team.

 

Hale has been a role player off the Lady Royals bench for the past 3 seasons and has came in and played 3 different postitions in providing rest for the Lady Royal starters.

 

Reese, what more can you say about this young lady other than she deserves the comeback player of the year. After suffering ACL injuries to both knees the previous two seasons that required major surgery, she was determined not to be denied her senior season and after a early season scare, she has managed to work herself back into the starting lineup for Mason County. Provides Mason County with another outside threat and scoring.

 

mcpapa, I agree with your remarks about Torey Chambers, she will be missed in many ways next season. She has battled against players she has been outsized by and still averages nearly a double double every game. That part of her game is won strictly by playing with a lot of heart!

I dont know if I have ever seen a player play with as much heart as Torrey Chambers. She is often overshadowed by her talented teammates, but this young lady deserves a whole lot of credit and recognition of her own.

My bad for still being half asleep on the Mason County girls; Megan has put in more sweat and tears than anyone I can think of, and Kasey has been the ultimate team player off the bench. Congrats to these fine ladies also!!!

If they both play in a Double Header i think they should do both teams in between the games on account of the crowd let both teams seniors get the recognition they deserve and let the community as a whole congratulate them this will not happen by splitting them up some things are ment to be done together as a TEAM This being one of them . Ditto MC. I have enjoyed the play of these taleented seniors during the past years. I have been able to spend time with the Royals in hotels in Lexington. Not only are these guys great players who play hard and provide energy but are a pleasure to be around. Top qualityyoung men your parents and school have every right to be proud of you. Nice going Tyreese, Brad, Nat, Tony and best to you in the future.

Boys basketball team manager Carly Case is a senior.

Those four seniors would make a very competitive ball team in our area . They're good players and will be missed next year. All have a competitive spirit and seem to have great attitudes.:fire:
