Today started the state wrestling tournament. Wrestling action will be all day friday and saturday with the state finals being on saturday night. It is being held in Frankfort at the Frankfort Convention center.

 

I know there has to be some bluegrassprepers out there that will be at the state tournament. If you have any comments on matches or results please post them.

Trinity's in first place. :eek: Could they make a run at the state title? Naaaa.

 

John Golsby from Holmes moves on to quarterfinals at 152 to face no 1 seed Mitch Ervin from Union County.

Looks like Trinity as 7 wrestlers who are undefeated, Woodford 6 and Larue 5.

LaRue County and Woodford County will have something to say about the state title.

North Hardin has surged to the lead! Perennially powerful Woodford County is a close second.

I guess SK's Cooper didn't make it due to injury???

According to the paper, Josh Cooper had to have surgery last Monday for a knee infection and was not able to wrestle. Would have liked to see him win a state championship and carry on the tradition but not a bad career with six years of placing at state including last years runner up. Good Luck to Josh in his future pursuits.

If you have never been to watch the state finals, you are missing a great high school sports event. They turn out all the lights and only have lights on the mat. It is great, all the teams have glo-sticks in their teams colors. It really is one of the best state championships to watch.

Is Union Co. winning as big of an upset as I think it is?

Anyone know what happened to Ryan Kelley. I think SC's line up really hurt them. They had some people at some weights that shouldn't be there. But they were very young.

Semi-finals Kelly was beating Jones 8-4 with 33 sec left in the 3rd period when he dislocated his right elbow. Had to be taken to the hospital and have it put back in. He made it back for the finals and was able to get up on the podium and get 6th after forteiting his last 3 matches. Look out for him next year!!!:thumb:
