The optics suggest a comfortable 2-3 score win for South. But as I said above, these two have a way of subverting our expectations. Bowling Green doesn't look or feel ready for this, but if they're going to get up for any game on the schedule, it's this one.

I'm picking the Spartans, but hoping the Purples rally the troops and fight this battle with every competitive fiber in their bodies.

Everyone hating on the BG defense as if they are the worst defense in KY football right now. They are young no doubt, but a lot of teams are struggling to stop X's offense and name a team that is going to slow down Scott County's offense with Emongo and company that is not named Trinity. I still believe that if O and X played again, X is winning by 2 scores. At the end of the day the BG defense is coached by the same defensive staff that dominated teams for three straight seasons going 2-1 in the 5A state championship. Injuries and youth hurt BG last season and now with a slew of sophomores who's first four games are Bullitt East, X, Scott Co., and SW. I truly think they will figure things out and be a team that is ready for a deep playoff run. Can BG win against SW Friday? Absolutely. Can they get beat by SW Friday? Without a doubt. I think this will be a great game and a dog fight that helps both teams grow. I will go BG in a very close and hard fought battle.

I'm surprised by the discrepancy in the poll SW hasn't been incredible this year the best team they played handled them and I think that game was at home.

Bowling Green put the Freshman QB Davis in some tough spots last year, one of those being when they stepped into enemy territory and the offense had 3 fumbles lost in a 45-14 blowout loss to their crosstown rival. It doesn't feel the same not seeing these two meetup in November but as my granny would say, "take what ya get and don't throw a fit.”

The difference in this game will be won in the trenches, not sure the Purples have the talent to matchup with South. In saying that I'm still not a believer that this Spartans OL/DL is what they've been in the Brandon Smith era, though I do believe it'll be enough to move the ball at will against BG. Bowling Green in order to compete will have to be methodical and shorten this game. Davis can't be in the mindset of thinking he has to be sensational, take what South will give you and be smart with the football. Not sure how many stops the Purples defense will get so finishing drives will be key for BG offensively.

I'll go with the Spartans 42-21 but I sure do hope that we get another classic from these two programs.
