As a Highlands fan you've got to be excited to know Kaden Sturdavant who's missed the first four games (had a one in a million illness) should be returning right around the time district play starts. 6'4 260 lb monster who will make the defense that much better and give some of our two way lineman more rest. He had a great offseason and is putting in the work to get back to full strength.

@TheConfluence , I know you are new around here 🤣.... I took a picture of G a few years ago at BGP Headquarters! This is pretty much his set up every Friday Night.

  • Looking through the photos two things jumped out at me. The NKY officials clearly are not enforcing the knee pad rule and Boyle County holds a lot.

That is not true. 1995, Dennis Johnson of Harrodsburg HS was ejected against Paris HS. He played the following week. I was the HFC at Paris the night he was ejected.

No enforcement of holding the entire night. With 7 officials for the first time I expected better.

I know still images "lie" when it comes to holding but they are a major clue.

I really try to avoid officiating performance, especially with the issues we have getting them. But last night was bad , unacceptable and the neglect just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. All I can say is go back and watch the game and really watch it and I'd say most would feel the same. The game a week prior a Boyle lineman cut a d-lineman , d- lineman goes to get up then o- lineman grabs and rolls on the back of his knee. D - lineman leaves and never returns (call was probably hard to catch) but yes they hold a lottttt !!!

Saw that as well and it happened multiple times in the Lex Cath game. I was glad the Birds came out injury free last night.

Did anyone else think that Highlands looked significantly faster than Boyle? That shouldn't be the case in two teams ranked that highly.

Like it or not. The rest of 4A knows that they have to go thru Boyle County to win come December. They also they know that they will see a totally different team on the field from what we saw on Friday. You can go thru all the feel good scenarios you want to, but in the end it all comes down to how good you can compete against the team that has won 5 out of the last 6 years and the coach responsible.

Totally agree. Feel like they need to get better in the trenches. They were dominated on Friday. Overall, they are still the team to beat for sure.

You know what winning 5 of the last 6 means in regards to this season? Almost absolutely nothing.

To people that have never won anything it might not. To those who expect to win every year it is known as tradition and pride.

All that tradition and pride didn't help Highlands win any state titles over the last 12 years, after previously winning titles in 7 of the last 8 years before that. The reason why because those previous state titles has very little effect on those current seasons and those players playing that year, because every year is different.

Don't get me wrong. I would not be surprised at all if Boyle wins it again. As they truly are still one of the top teams in the state, especially when they have their full roster. However, any type of mental edge they may have had over Highlands, now won't be there after Highlands just dominated them. Then same with CovCath who did beat them two years ago. Even same with Corbin who probably only lost because of a horrible inadvertent whistle last year. Pride and tradition from previous years means very little on current teams and also who they are playing now.
