If my math is right, Mayfield is 126-6 on home soil since 2009. Though it must be noted that the last two losses the Cards suffered at home were blowouts at the hands of LCA and Tilghman. PT's kids remember that night two years ago. If you've got the horses, you can outrun the mystique of War Memorial.

I think the Tornado have just enough horsepower to get it done again this year. But I also think this will be a battle to the end. Or at least I hope it is.

I know I am in the minority here but I am taking Mayfield. However, for my Beechwood Tigers home playoff chances, I want to see Tilghman win the game. But either way, I am going to enjoy watching this game in the last session Friday night.

The poll currently sits at 34-18 in favor of Tilghman, so a hair over 1/3 of the vote is for Mayfield. Going off how the first few weeks went, there were several teams picked at much lower rate that won.

I obviously want to see PT win, but it's not a shocker I don't think if they don't. Mayfield is gonna bring it I'm sure.

That is the "feeling" I have, Mayfield is going to bring it!

Is it Friday yet?

This early in the season, it's hard to know how good Mayfield is. From what I have seen, they are more sound than last year. Robbins looks more mature in the pocket and England is one of the best Rbs this side of the state. Their defense is solid but Christian Co did have success vs the Card's secondary.

On the flip side, PT is not as the Tornadoes of the last couple of years. Saying that, they are still a very good football team. Thompson is special and McPeake is very close behind. Where I still have doubts is their Qb's decision making. Yes, he has big numbers thru two games but it has a lot to do with the athletes I previously mentioned.

I chose PT to win early in the week, but as it gets closer to Friday, I think this game is a toss up. Either way, I know both of these teams will be better come November.

I know I am operating on feelings but Mayfield feels a lot better this year. However, defense is an issue.

Mayfield has a lot of two way players and with the heat and Tilghman's hurry up offense I look for the Cardinals to wear down come the 4th quarter.

I believe PT pulls away with this one in the 3rd quarter due to how many Mayfield players play both ways. I fully expect this to be a good game though.

The 2-way PT guys that I'm aware of - Isaac James (RB & LB), Chance McPike (WR & DB), Sherrill (RB & DB), Thompson (WR & DB). There's probably 2 or 3 more.

The good thing is they just rotate in and out on defense to keep from wearing out.

This ancient rivalry produced one of my "Games of the Century". It's always been a consequential game out west, but Tilghman's reemergence as a state power has restored some statewide luster to it.
