I would be suprised to not see Scott Co. in the top 10 once we get some games under our belt. Ryle probably shouldn’t be on this list entirely but we’ll see.

I have no idea. I know Troy Howell publishes his vote, maybe some others do too, again, I have no idea. Here are the KSR voters:

KSR Top 25 voters (13): Todd Able, Danny Campbell, Jalen Daughtry, Les Dixon, Vic Evans, Sam Gormley, Sterling Hohman, Troy Howell, Lovell Martin, Jared Peck, Scott Ratliff, Travis Scaggs, and Phoenix Stevens.

Is it that strange? In my opinion Trinity is absolutely the best team in the state, but this isn't like putting some schlub ahead of them. CAL has been considered #2 all year and they have numerous highly ranked college recruits. Calpreps predicts a Trinity would beat CAL 38-22. I wouldn't vote for CAL at number one but I don't necessarily believe you'd have to graduate from the school to think they could compete.

I hear everything you are saying and I still believe that yes, it is that strange.

This is why an open division playoff would be really nice. Every year we could settle the number 1 team debate.

I’m one of the crazies who believes CAL can hang with Trinity.

Despite the great theater that game would create, do you think the #2 vs #1 State Chanpions of two different divisions would really want this postseason game?

With the open division option, only district winners of all classes would be able to even declare for it. Essentially making “open” its own class. So it wouldn’t be state champion vs state champion. Whoever wins is the state champion.

I do think having a number #2 overall (3A) team, who’s clobbered every opponent they’ve played. Facing off against a nationally ranked KY (6A) powerhouse ranked #1 overall would be great for KY high school football as a whole. Plus I’m sure programs that truly believed they’re the best team in the state would want to prove it. Ultimately what you get is the true overall top 2 teams competing every year. Most years of recent the #2 #3 or #4 teams have been in different classes.
