Following a 9-2 loss, the Cincinnati Reds wake up seven games back of the Brewers, last place in the NL Central. 

It was yet another noncompetitive performance, and a night worthy of a refund for the 19,409 fans at GAPB.....

Emergency starter Lyon Richardson was so erratic, the Royals didn't swing at any of his first 14 pitches. Following two walks and a hit by pitch in the 1st inning, the game that was over with a Lane Thomas grand slam. Richardson threw 30 pitches, just 13 strikes. 

The Reds lost by at least five runs for the 16th time, tied with the Rockies for the most in MLB. A year ago, the Reds lost 20 such games all season. 

Kansas City entered the game having lost six in a row and 16 of 19. They came to town 7-20 on the road, having been outscored 135-83. Averaging just over 3 runs per game away from Kauffman Stadium, they dropped 9 on the Reds, tying their season high road production. 

Offensively, the Reds managed just six hits, striking out 12 times. 
They scored a single run in the 1st and the 9th. The night ended with three sub .200 hitters in the lineup. 

Nick Krall has done such a poor job of assembling MLB and minor league talent.  It's become one spaghetti toss on the wall/no business being in the majors offerings after another. 

The last three bullpen options he's provided Terry Francona arrived with Louisville ERA's of 5.23, 5.12, 4.75.

It borders on criminal. 

What are we doing?

At some point it has to be deemed unacceptable by the front office and ownership. It just has to be. 

Waaaaaay too often this team just isn't competitive. 

I'm tired of it. Aren't you?

Yeah, June has been a Royal pain so far too.  (pun intended)

Reds win!!!!

The Reds are becoming really good at solo home runs, but glad they fought back for the win tonight.

Reds down 2-0 after 2 innings. Burns gives up a 2-run homer in the top of the first.

2-0 Royals after 3.

Dunn hits a 2 run shot to tie it at -2 after 5.

Still 2-2 after 6.

2-2 after 8.

This has got to be the last time of Tony. He’s been horrible all year. Zero help against one of the worst teams in the MLB. Give KC credit. 

 My goodness another terrible outing by Santillan!!!! He goes 1/3 of an inning and gives up 3 hits and 3 runs plus a walk. How much longer do we have to watch this guy? It is not good I don't think to be a late inning pitcher and have an era of 5.56 and that is before this horrible performance tonight. JUST TERRIBLE!!

Reds lose tonight and the series to the Royals who came into this series 15 games under .500. Next up the Reds head to St. Louis to take on the Cards in a weekend series. Go Reds!
