I know he will not win he dosen't have enough pull but Jon Vanhoose at Russell could quit possibly be the best player in the state but for some reason or another he has been under the radar. Steffphon Pettigrew will win it more than likley.

I'll take Pettigrew right now. But im like everyone else, if Walls can get scott co. another title, Mr. Basketball is his.

I only saw Vanhoose play at Scott Co. last year (I think it was in the Toyota Classic) but he had a nightmare. It wasn't that his shooting was off - he couldn't get open to get a shot off. I've heard that he is a stud - but from what I saw with my own two eyes - Walls and Pettigrew are a notch above.

Vanhoose is twice the player this year compared to last year. Every apect of his game has improved. Quickness, Speed, Jumping, Defense, and if you can believe this, his shooting.

If Scott Co. is lead to state, he's got my vote.

He has to be a good player to get a scholarship to Evansville - I hope he does great. I hope he's matured and gotten stronger too - it seems like our kids were successful playing physical with him.

Guys, the Mr. Basketball voting is done before the state tournament. So Walls could win three state tourneys this year and it wouldn't make a lick of difference.

 

Pettigrew should win this one hands down. His team wouldn't win a game without him, and he's leading the state in scoring and rebounding. Coach Haire has put his team out there for everyone to see Pettigrew in terms of getting E-town into major tourneys around the state. He's going to win.

Seriously, you cant go wrong with either player. I honestly think those 2 have seperated themselves. I see Pettigrew getting it. Hes had a great season and hes done some great things.

Walls has had a great season as well. Both are great.

If the voting was done after the state tournament, then AJ Slaughter would have won last year.

 

With the voting occuring before the state tourney, I think it is a two horse race between Stephon Pettigrew and Ty Proffitt. Profitt may have the upper hand because he has been at the state tourney the past few years and his team won it with him starting at the point guard position as a sophomore. It is all about exposure, and their is no bigger stage than Rupp Arena in March.

If that is true, then I think it was a great move. It should matter what you do for your team as a senior. If you can lead them to the Rupp, and even win a championship, it should help your case to win Mr. Basketball.

Matt Fraelix from Caldwell Co. should get some consideration.

Western Kentucky athletes probably don't get enough publicity throughout the state, and that's sad. This kid had 45 points tonight against UHA.

What can you tell us about him? He must be an extremely talented player.

Don't get me wrong though, Walls is a great player.

It comes down to the final talley of votes. Scott co's schedule is murderous and Walls has met every challenge. That doesn't mean he will win bases on that alone but it should be considered. He is solid as they come. Whoever gets him in college is getting a steal. His better days are ahead of him.
