Santillan on in the bottom of the 9th, can he hold a 3 run lead?

A lot of times they are. They are scared. They don't trust their stuff. They pick at the edges and/or try to trick hitters into swinging at balls.

Last night Santillan trusted his stuff, didn't pitch scared and threw strikes.

Reds are out of the gate up 3-1 after 1 inning.

And you might add, the ball stayed in the park.

The other night Ashcraft threw 13 straight balls, no major league pitcher tries to walk the bases loaded.

It is mental. Athletes get the yips. That's why I say you have to trust your stuff, believe you can win throwing strikes. Believe your stuff, location, sequence are too good for batters to get hits.
