@Colonels_Wear_Blue, can you educate this newbie? Do you compile and share overall records throughout the year in addition to the individual scores you graciously share? Additionally, are you knowledgeable enough on the Freshman landscape to comprise an unofficial ranking for all NKY schools (maybe too early two weeks in)? I was pretty familiar with the teams while they were in MS, but now that they've moved up to the HS level, any knowledge I had is pretty much worthless.

I put the standings together below based on your summaries (not ranked), but have no desire to step on your toes. Appreciate the effort you put into this.

  • Highlands 2-0

  • Beechwood 2-0

  • Conner 2-0

  • Ryle 2-0

  • Dixie Heights 1-1

  • Simon Kenton 1-1

  • Campbell County 0-1

  • Scott 0-1

  • Walton Verona 0-1

  • CCH 0-2

  • Cooper 0-2

Week 1 Results: Aug 24-Aug 30
Ryle 28 Cooper 0
Beechwood 30 Campbell County 0
Conner 12 Simon Kenton 6
Dixie Heights 44 Scott 30
Highlands 42 Covington Catholic 0

Week 2 Results: Aug 31-Sep 6
Beechwood 7 Lawrenceburg (IN) 0
Conner 38 Walton-Verona 18
Highlands 48 Dixie Heights 8
Ryle 36 Covington Catholic 0
Simon Kenton 28 Cooper 14
BYE WEEK - Campbell County

I do have a sheet that tracks the week-to-week results for all of the teams in the NKY Freshman League, yep. I usually try to put out the first update around Week 3, so I'm planning to ideally get that posted on Monday.

Scott and Walton-Verona both have true freshman teams, but they aren't official members at current in the NKY Freshman League, so I don't typically track their teams in this thread, and only include their scores when they play teams from the NKY Freshman League. Boone County has had a freshman team in years past, but currently their program has a "froshmore" squad playing a mixed schedule against a combination of some JV & freshman teams; I'm about 99% sure that Newport Central Catholic also fields a froshmore squad instead of a true freshman team or a true JV team. I believe that the remaining NKAC football programs (Bellevue, Bishop Brossart, Covington Holy Cross, Dayton, Holmes, Lloyd Memorial, Ludlow, and Newport) only field varsity and JV squads.

As far as rankings go for this league, we just try to go by overall wins/losses...generally along the line of the way they determine which teams play in which game during championship week. It's been fortunate that typically game outcomes have stayed straightforward enough that there are pretty cut and dry "rankings" that can be determined from season records, with head-to-head results used to back those up when needed. In past years (we're talking more like 10+ years ago) before the coaches in the league all kinda sat down and formally organized how to determine everything, there were some debates that took place among some teams about who should play in the championship (again, in many years the freshman league wasn't really even officially conducted much as an official league back then), but regardless, that's not really much of a common thing as it stands.

The cream will start to rise over the next few weeks as some of the undefeated teams start to play each other.

Highlands has Ryle, SK, and Beechwood over the next three weeks. That's a brutal stretch, especially as a large number of Freshman are playing significant JV and Varsity minutes. With that said, the competition is welcomed (and needed).

Ryle has a similar run with Highlands, then a BYE WEEK, followed by SK and then Beechwood.

Beechwood has CCH and Dixie the next two weeks, but then has their tough stretch against HHS, Ryle, and SK in back to back to back weeks. Tough.

Conner's road is a bit easier (at least on paper) as they don't play Beechwood at all, but finish their season against Highlands and then Ryle.

I'm hoping for some good (and safe) football over the next several weeks. These lopsided scores are not good for either side.
