Why does Beechwood and Highlands not play regular season at the Varsity level anymore? When is the last time they played each other at that level? I know that they play each other at the Freshman level. 

You would think that they would play each other- two top tier quality opponents for sure, in their respective classes. Add in the fact that they are both storied programs with many championships to boot. 

Call the game the "Battle of the Forts."

I know CCH gets a crack at both of them every year, and rightfully so. I look forward to both matchups this year in Park Hills.

I watched them scrimmage when Mike Mitchell played for H and it was pretty lopsided.

I.M.O. Gives Highlands no incentive with RPI to play Beechwood.  

it would be good to have seen the two teams play the last few years.

The 1953 Tigers were the first team in school history to produce a winning record for a full season, going 5-3. They also had the distinction of playing and winning the first ever game on what is now our current field, when they defeated Cincinnati Country Day, 13-0!

Beechwood hosts Ryle Friday and then travels to Anderson next Thursday.

Anderson game was cancelled for next week so Beechwood travels next week now (8/14) to Madison Central and will scrimmage Somerset there at MCHS.

Why was it canceled?

Highlands reached out to Beechwood this past Spring to begin playing a series next cycle (2027/2028). An agreement was not reached. Highlands did add LCA instead with the game in 2027 being in Fort Thomas.

@FirstTimeLongTime I wonder why an agreement was not reached. Do you have anymore information on that? I understand RPI is important, but come on, the amount of championships between the Tigers and Bluebirds is unreal.

A game between both would be so good and interesting, just like when both schools play Cov Cath year in and year out. We could tab the game, "The Battle of the Forts."

Any updates on the Edgar McNabb stadium proect? I want to see the finished result!

I don’t have any insider news to report but visually it’s not complete. Bleachers seem to be done. New concession seems like it is close. New restrooms near the Kroger lot have a roof over them and walls but not sure about the interior. Also, still plenty of material and equipment around the parking lot. Appears to be getting close but I have no idea of the final completion date. I believe the Tigers host Ryle tomorrow, so I am not sure what the plan is there, plus school returns next week. If I can, I will try to get a few pictures this evening.
