Question for the STX guys on this thread.......Would you be happy if the new coach kept the same staff around?

I would prefer a change in defensive scheme and strategy whether the current assistants are kept or not.

  • Congrats to Coach Wallace on his retirement.  2022 was a tough year for me. No team. Kevin let me be an analyst for him. Mondays watching them practice... impressive. Their culture, the way the a

  • I'd be fine with Coach Wolfe. He said in interview he would see where God wants him to go and a lot of praying goes on at St. X.

  • Congrats Coach Wallace!  Thanks for all the memories.  Enjoy your retirement.

Some of what I have heard is that some of the current assistants are part of the deal and that has turned some coaches off from the job.

Approximately how many of the current assistant coaches work in the building compared with the number that are paraprofessionals?

That is not a number I would know. I do know that there are key positions that would be of concern for the incoming coach that work in the building.

The defensive coordinator and offensive coordinator are teachers at the school.

You are correct about the defensive coordinator.  However, Wallace was the offensive coordinator.  The offensive line coach is a teacher in the school.

I would be fine if some or all of the assistants stayed.  That does not mean that the scheme stays.  Whether or not the head coach calls the offensive plays or the defenses, the schemes should be implemented and approved by the head coach.

That is why Wolfe appeals to me as head coach.  He has an offensive and defensive scheme.  While he may let someone else call stuff during the game, the scheme is his.

Nick Saban had defensive coordinators.  Do you think he just let someone come in and run whatever defense they wanted?  No.  He may have given them some autonomy, but it was his defense.  As it should have been.  All schemes are ultimately the responsibility of the head coach no matter who makes the calls in the games.

ILB, OLB, d-line, safety, d-coordinator, O-line coach all work at the school.

Could they be trying to snag Cantwell?

Private school & state championship success. Locally known as well. With their new facilities it could definitely be an interesting move for him and possibly somebody to try and challenge Trinity for a long while.

Some of them need to stay. Defense would be lost without the D-Coordinater involved.

The QB coach who works with Wallace on offense is teacher.

In the last 5 meetings between X and T, the Rocks are 4-1 and have averaged 36 points per game on the Tigers, including a 50 burger this season. Might want to rethink who stays and who goes.
