The fact that Boley has done pretty well as a redshirt freshman after Calzada went down with an injury makes me question this coaching staff even more.  So we had a spring practice and such and the staff thought Calzada was a better option?  Boley has made some mistakes but again, he's young.  If he sticks around, hopefully he can be the nucleus we need at the QB position that can help our offense in the years ahead.

Texas is overacted. 

Arch certainly is. He missed a ton of open looks, just over threw his receivers on short throws. Texas has a really good defense, but the offense is garbage.

Like I said somewhere else, he sat for 2 years behind a 7th round pick.

While I am not a fan of Stoops, especially in regards to how things are done offensively all these years under him. To be fair QB play is probably one of the hardest to know exactly how a QB would do in a game, just based off practice. We have seen great coaches have guys as backup QBs behind someone, and that backup QB end up showing they were better than the starter once they got the chance. 
 

Even saw it with Hall of Fame NFL coaches in Belicheck and Dick Vermeil. Tom Brady with the Patriots, probably never takes a snap as a Patriot in his career if not for Bledsoe getting hurt. The the Rams and the greatest show on Turf never happens if Trent Green doesn’t get hurt, which allowed Kurt Warner to start. Seen it with Joe Burrow in college with OSU never giving him a chance. Sometimes you just can’t see it in practice, that little something extra a guy may have that makes him different than others once the lights come on.

That's one of the reasons I don't go along with the idea of giving your starter every single snap.  The backup quarterback needs some regular playing time just in case he's a) a great game player and should be playing more or b) he's going to choke if he ever gets in a real game.  In either case, you'll never know if all he does is hold a clipboard.  He's only 1 snap away from being a your starter in the case of an unfortunate injury.
